We are not saying that you are lying, but your co-worker is. this is not true! It is an urban myth. My sister's cousin's boss's dad's son's sister-in-law twice removed named her adopted twins orangjello and lemonjello. You will hear that too.

Okay just to put it out there my SIL goes to Lemoyne College here in NYS and she DOES actually believe it or not have a La-a in her womens history class... pronounced straight up La dash a ... I didn't believe it either so SIL brought up her class contact list online and there she was listed 3 bellow SIL... but then like a week or two ago I saw it popping up all over these boards, and um question how the hell is a name an urban myth??? Now that just doesn't make any sense...

... Like I said before how the hell can a name be an Urban Myth?? I'm seriously curious and why does everyone have to be so mean... seriously how would any of you know? Is it YOUR co-worker.... I don't think so...

God though how awful and mean would it be to name your kid this!? But then again didn't that actress name her kid Apple?? Like seriously?? I still will never get over that... Its a kid for god's sake not a piece of fruit??

It began with a chain email about an African American mother storming in to a school and yelling at the teacher for not pronouncing the dash. The email was very racist, so it would amaze me if someone actually named their child that.

Haha oh I see! Thankyou for explaining Smile That makes sense then why it's all over the boards lately... yea I was a little bit shocked when SIL actually proved to me that this girl was real! I mean I've heard worse names then Ladasha... that is if it was spelled out not literally La-a! I'm assuming this girl is the same age as SIL, so that would mean her mother named her this 19 years ago? If this email is as awful as you say I feel bad for the girl...

Nobody is being mean. We are just sick of hearing about it! It comes up once a week and everyone gets sick of it. There is no way that La-a is not in the top SSA names, yet, with all these people who know her it certainly should be!!

I just looked at snopes.com about it and read that it was an e-mail that circulated in October 2008. Although snopes claims that it is is undetermined if it is true or not, it also says THERE HAVE BEEN NO DOCUMENTS THAT HAVE EVER PROVED IT TRUE. What they have found though, is that there are Ladasha's out there but spelled out as shown!

So, not being mean, but we want to see proof if we keep having to read about a La-a once a week!

You don't have to worry about pregnancy hormone here, sweetheart. I was talking to OP, not you. This name comes up frequently, and it's an urban legend. Comparing it to Avamarie is completely irrelevant.

Sure, there may be a La-a here and there. Maybe. I still have never seen proof of one. But you can't tell me there are that many of them that someone brings this name to our attention - thinking they're clever, no less - at least twice a week.

My cats name was Shithead. Not a person...but he was one cool cat!
