Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Interested to hear your LO crawling experience.

My LO has been moving/crawling backwards for about a week. I guess it's more like pushing herself backwards.  How long did it take your LO to start crawling normally from this stage?  Love to hear your story.

  • DD did the scooting backwards thing for about two weeks and then just started army crawling forward. I just always kept her toys out of reach and she eventually just scooted towards them. She has been on the go since. She does not full-out crawl yet but she gets up on her hands and knees. Can't wait till she masters the full-out crawl.

  • I'd say a couple of weeks probably.  She kinda skipped right from this moving backward stage right to being up on her knees and moving & grooving.  She completely skipped any army crawl type thing (or much of that rocking on hands & knees that they do)

  • Ava stated army crawling it )scooting) around five and a half months. Then about two weeks ago she started to really take off. It is so cute now she is pulling herself to her feet and hands. She looks so silly.

  • She started little bursts of crawling at 7 months 1 week. Now at 8 months she is really getting fast and is crawling all over the place. :)

  • He started getting up on his hands and knees and rocking around 5 months. It took him maybe two weeks to start army crawling. But he didn't start crawling normally until about 7.5 months, which was funny since he pulled up just shy of 7 months.

    This.
  • Nora has been rocking on all 4s and scooting backwards for over a month now, and she's recently started getting up on hands and feet (think the yoga position downward dog), but she still doesn't crawl.

  • Within 2 weeks of going backwards, we had forward movement. A week after that....he was off!!

  • My little guy never went backwards. He went from rocking on all fours and army crawling for about 2 weeks and then 2 weeks later he was full on crawling.

  • DS scooted backwards one or two times pulled his knees up and then face planted it for about a week before crawling with his stomach off the ground. He really wanted to go get his sisters toys but still more interested in pulling up to stand and walking holding on my hands. He just started standing without support yesterday (but only for a few seconds).

C still army crawls and is just figuring out that she can get her legs involved in the mix.  She gets up on her hands and knees but just gets mad because she can't figure out how to go.  She can army crawl pretty quick now though, especially when she's chasing the cat.

This - except our DD is chasing our dog. :) She'll get onto her hands and knees, then into downward dog yoga position, then into plank position - but she just can't figure out what to do with her legs to actually crawl, so she ends up flopping back down onto her belly and army crawling wherever she wants to go. She's been doing this for about two weeks.

  • I have no idea how long it took to make the transition. One minute he was scooting backwards, the next he was legit crawling forward.
