I fell down while carrying DS

As I was leaving the my day care lady's house last night, I was carrying DS and walking down her front patio steps. I don't know what happened, my leg just gave out and I fell down. Thank God DS and I were ok, just shaken up, and I have a scrape on the outside of my hand, which (along with my knees) broke our fall. I don't know if its my body telling me to take it easy or what. It was just really scary and really weird. I felt totally fine, it was just like, my knee buckled or something. I was just so shaken up, not to mention embarrassed. Anyway, I just had to share with other MOMs or pregnant MOMs. I guess this means I should take it easy. Anyone with 1 + pg with multiples have to stop carrying around their toddler at some point?

  • How scary!  Definitely take it easy!  Being pregnant with twins is no joke and I can't imagine having a toddler on top of that!

  • Scary for sure! I fell when I was pregnant about 22 weeks along and scared the crap outta me. Slipped on some ice. And that wasn't while trying to take care of another child since we only have the girls! Definately start taking it easy

  • Glad you are both okay! All your joints are loosening up in preparation to later give birth, so it can be hard to be coordinated. Carrying babies and a toddler will get to be too hard on your body at some point too. I remember my hips feeling like they weren't attached sometimes. Take care of yourself!

  • I bit it around 20 or 24 weeks. I don't have other kids, and I wasn't carrying anything, so I just went down on my hand and knees. I got a bruise (knees and ego) and scraped my hand, but I was ok otherwise. I think it's definitely a sign to slow down - and it was scary! Missfire is right - you are starting to get loosey-goosey about now, so your body isn't going to respond the way you think it should probably from now on out.

  • scary.  i'm glade you're ok.

This reminds me of a story my dad tells alot.  When my mom was pregnant with me she fell down a flight of stairs on her way to Lamaze class.  I guess the top step was icey and the stairs were steep.  My dad to this day says that watching her fall down the stairs was the scariest moment of his life.  She was fine (and evidently so was I) but like you she was shaken up and bruised.
