I had the sweep done on a Thursday, contractions started on Saturday afternoon and DS was morning early Sunday morning.
I don't know if it had anything to do with it though, but I started drinking red raspberry leaf tea on Friday because I was anxious to get the show on the road and didn't want to have another sweep done.
It works for some and doesn't for others. Hopefully it gets things moving for you.
I believe I was around 37 weeks when she stripped my membranes. I was 2cm when she did it and remained 2cm until the day I was induced at 39w6d. So no, it didn't do anything for me.
had mine stripped on jan 31st at like 2pm, went home and walked around my house and had sex with hubby, starting having timeable contractions by 9pm made it to the hospital by midnight and my son was born at 10:30am on new years day. I highly suggest either having sex with hubby or going for a walk or drinking something spicy (or a combination!) and hopefully things start progressing for you!
I was 1cm dilated and 75% effaced when I went in for my 40 week appointment and had my membrane sweep. I was 1cm dilated and 75% effaced when I showed up at L&D a week later after two weeks of regular contractions and had to be induced due to fetal distress / non-progressive labor.
I had mine stripped twice. The first time I was 38 weeks, 3cm and 80% effaced. Nothing happened. The second time I was stripped, my Dr. was much more aggressive about it. I was 39 weeks, 3cm and 90%. My water broke 48 hours later. Good luck! I hope you are holding your LO soon!
I had mine stripped on a Wed morning and went into labor on Thurs afternoon. Although, I'm not convinced that it did anything. I think babies come when they're ready. There is really no way of knowing if things like membrane stripping actually help.
I went into labour about an hour or two after having mine stripped at 38w3d, but I was already dilated 5 cm when it was done. I had my son about 12 hours later.
I had mine stripped on a Monday at 40w1d and lost my mucus plug the next morning but nothing happened after that. I went into labor naturally on Friday and had my DD just after midnight on Saturday (40w6d). I think it only helps if your body is ready to go into labor. If you're not ready, it won't do anything.
Some practitioners suck at stripping membranes. Some just poke their finger in and give a quick swipe. That's not going to do it for the majority of people. They really need to get in there and sweep as much as the cervix will let them. Takes longer than a full minute to do properly.
My cervix was very stretchy and I was about 2cm dilated when my midwife stripped my membranes. That was at around 3 or 4 PM and my son came at 45 minutes past midnight after 3 hours of active labor.

Nurse. Home birth. Breastfeeding,
I went in for my 39wk appt and found out I was 2cm and 80% effaced. My Dr stripped my membranes and said see ya friday (my appt was on tuesday). My appt was at 11am. I went to work that night then the store and felt fine. I started feeling really uncomfortable around 230am went to the hospital and found out I was 5cm and in very active labor. I didnt even know it. My water was broke at 6:06am and DS was born at 9:06am.
So yes it worked for me and took less than 24hrs for LO to get here after I had it done.

Did nothing for me. I had mine stripped at 40w and DD was born at 41w3d. The Dr. couldn't even strip them again...I had no membranes left, but DD just wasn't ready to come yet!
I had it done at my 39 week appointment at 1030am. Went into labour that afternoon at 330. My ob came to see me in the hospital the next morning and said "well, I guess what i did yesterday worked!" He is too funnny. Good luck!
