May 2012 Moms

I might need to block google...

Every ache and pain...I google. Then, I'm horrified at what I find.

Well, today, I had a prenatal visit and had a pap which caused some bleeding. I've never bled from a pap before.  Midwife said I might have some spotting for up to 24 hours. Now I googled this and saw tons of info on this being normal, but also tons of info on people thinking paps induced a miscarriage! People were saying they blame a pap for having a miscarriage. Now, I logically know that a pap is standard procedure for pregnant women and many women are fine. I just fear I may be one of the sad cases where the worst happens.

Boy do I hate being such a worrier. I need to stop Googling!!!

  • yes, stop!

I have created a no-google rule for myself. I will look in one of the books I have, and if it's not there, I drop it. it was hard to follow at first, but it makes me feel so much better.

There are WAY too many things in the world to worry about them all!

  • STEP AWAY FROM THE GOOGLE!!!

Unless that dr took the pap stick and shoved it all the way up through your cervix and into your uterus, there is NO way a pap would cause a MS.

You'll be ok, spotting is totally normal both when pregnant and when you aren't.

  • My doctor told me at my first appt NOT to google anything and to pick up the phone and call them if I have questions.  Good advice, but hard to live by.  LOL

  • It is hard to "un-google" once you have made the mistake.  If it makes you feel any better, I almost always spot from paps.  My doctor told me that the pregnant cervix is much more vascular and prone to bleeding when touched and I spotted for a day after my pap a couple of weeks ago.  It really should be alright.

Imagine how much you could make with an un-google app.  Go to the site and we hit you with the flashy thing from Men in Black and make you forget.  That would be awesome.  Until then, try hard to resist the urge.  :-)

  • My doc made sure to tell me NOT to google anything! But I know that is very hard to live by when there are so many things going on right now! But trust me.. it's good advice. Don't feel like a hypochondriac when you have questions for your OB before or after an appointment.. that's what they are there for.. Give them a call to ease your mind! Smile Oh! And maybe start a baby journal and just jot down questions so that you can get a bunch out in one shot! I'm sure you are fine my dear.. but i know that fearful feeling.. i have been there and done that twice.. so no worries girl! Good vibes coming your way!!! Take care!! Big Smile
