Pregnant after a Loss

not sure what to think...

so i had my u?/s appointment and im not too sure what to think about the results. the tech said she couldnt see anything really but saw a small blurb on the escreen that she thought looks like it could be the baby. she said what was on the screen was measuring 4w5d. which is only a few days off from the date from my lmp. she said it could just be too early. i dont think that i ovulated late. now im scared that baby isnt growing. she said it would be way to early to see if it was in my tube. i just want an answer so that i can have some peace of mind! i dont want to want to worry about this little one. im so scared and worried...

Re: not sure what to think...

  • Sorry you didn't see anything definitive.  May I ask why they even did an u/s this early?

With this pregnancy I was seeing an RE and they won't do an u/s before 6 wks because they don't want to freak patients out by not seeing anything on the u/s.

they did an ultrasound this early because i had an ectopic last year and they wanted to make sure nothing was in my tubes. tech said i would probably have to come back in a few weeks and get more blood work done.  im so scared :( maybe i should have waited. according to my lmp i should be 5 weeks but i could have ovulated late. sometimes i have a 30 day cycle but mostly have a 28.

This.  My OB makes you wait until 8w to make sure that we know what we should be seeing hb and all to make sure not to freak her patients out.

Try not to worry, things could very well still be on track for you!

  • I'm sorry you are feeling so worried and scared.  It's just so hard to trust early u/s, especially because the equipment might not have been the most current, and the person doing it might not be the best either.  I think you just have to stay positive while you wait for your next look.  Everything is probably fine, I was having some pain in my side so they went ahead and did an early u/s on me but they couldn't really tell for sure what they saw, they could just see a spec.  My doctor measured it, but he didn't even say anything to me about the size or if it was normal or not.  He just reassured me not to worry and that my pain was normal and that in a few weeks I could get an u/s that would be much clearer.  I'm just staying positive in the meantime!  Hang in there...let the baby grow for a week or 2 a I'm sure you will see something reassuring next time!  I know that waiting is so hard...I just keep saying the mantra!

Couldn't have said it better... my OB makes you wait till 8weeks as well and I had the same early pregnancy issues as you. Hang in there!

  • thanks ladies! i jkust got a call from the clinic where the specialist is. he said that its way to early to see but there is incresed blood flow to my uterus which means pregnancy! yay! but i have to go in every other day for blood tests to make sure that my levels are doubling and i have another ultra sound in two weeks. he wants to monitor me the whole way so that i dont get screwed around like the last time. i hope its all going good in there!! thank god these doctors are prompt. something that did concern me though was that he said there is a cyst in my left ovary - the side where the removed my tube. is it ok to have a cyst and still be pregnant? they did a inervaginal u/s and now its all sore down there!!
  • I just want to say, they can usually tell where the baby is. There's a big difference from a tube vs the actual uterus. I was hospitalized at 5 weeks 3 days due to blood sugar issues and they saw the yolk and the sac, but it was too early to even get measurements. However 3 weeks later everything was as it should be.

I could say don't worry, but I know that's not what will happen, however to me, it sounds like you are right on track and they are keeping a close eye on you so you're in good hands!

I'm glad the Dr reassured you and they are keeping a close eye on you.  It sounds encouraging so far, especially as you don't know for sure when you O'd.  Having a cyst is very common and is not something to worry about.  It is likely the follicle you O'd from.
