from before you had a kid/s? Besides sleep, since that's a given! I really need a haircut but it never seems to happen. I miss being able to go out on a whim and do errands or go out to dinner. Jules is definitely not a sit still kind of kid so those things can be really difficult and stressful.
I know that things will change as they get older and I'm not complaining, I wouldn't trade any of this. Just wondered what everyone else missed.
Re: What do you miss...
I miss having the time and cash to go to the casinos! We haven't been since R was born and we used to go at least 1x a month! I love slot machines! lol
I really miss going out to Happy Hour or for a drink with my girlfriends. I used to go out a lot more. Actually, this is more a "before you were married" thing, but mostly because when I got married I moved to Rochester and don't have very many friends in town.
I miss buying clothes and shoes just for me, keeping up on my haircut and general appearance. I used to have more $ to spend on me back then
I miss not being able to come home and sit on the couch for a few hours and just veg out and catch up on the DVR if I want to. I love hanging out with DD, but now I feel like any free time I get, or time when she is sleeping, is spent doing things around the house, not really just relaxing.
Sleep, and to eat a meal in peace. I am so sick of scarfing down my food, getting up every 2minutes for something (napkin, sauce, wipe something, more of something), or standing while I eat.. or simply eating on the go (like in the car).
I also miss putting on some of my own music and reading a book.. bonus would be to not have to feel tired or rushed.. those days are SO over..
Nest Bio ~ ~ Baby Food Blog
Getting a haircut, pedicure and eyebrow wax, all of which I'm in desperate need of. Even if I go on a day when Stella is at day care, Audrey is such a fussy baby and hates her carseat, I wouldn't be relaxed about it at all. Mama just needs an hour of pampering!
I miss being able to go out whenever we want. Now I feel like we have to pick and choose which "events" (aka, random outings, friends b-days, etc.) we go to so we don't take advantage of getting a baby sitter too often.
Not being attached to a pump. Not so much now, but when I go back to work I will be pumping 4x/day. Yuck.
Morning sex. I am not as peppy in the evening.
my lunch hour. i used to be able to come home, make something for myself to eat and relax in front of the tv for 30-45 min.
now i go home, make the boy lunch and deal with my mom. i mean it is great that i work close enough to be able to visit with him during the day and i do enjoy it most days, but every once and a while my mom will leave with him to run out and do something before i have to go back and i might get 10 min of quiet (and tv) to myself and it's then that i miss my old lunches.
i'm half tempted to lie to my mom about a work meeting at lunch and take a later one by myself once a month just for a little me time
Yep, I miss a lot of the things that you ladies brought up. Someday we will all have to do a big GTG and have a nice, child free happy hour
How would that ever get scheduled around pregnancies though? Maybe we'll have to do a skype gtg
Tina-if anything you and I should do something kid-less sometime. Maybe a pedicure! And even better, if it happens after March, I can have a glass of wine!
Total sidenote, on the March board someone posted yesterday that they were getting their toenails painted the color that corresponded to what week of pregnancy she's in. I about spit out my drink ...my last pedicure was the week before Jules was born!
Going out for happy hour every Friday night and/or dinner out every Saturday. Long weekend trips every couple months. Spending money on "me" things... like dropping $100+ at Sephora and not even thinking twice about it or getting my hair cut/colored/highlighted. My living room looking like a Pottery Barn catalog and not Toys R Us. Wearing a 2 piece bathing suit.
Staying in bed as late as I want on the weekends.
Going out on a whim-errands, dinner, etc.
Working out-I still work out 1-2x/week, but it's so hard to fit the gym in with work, etc. and lately our weekends are nutty so theres one of my days gone.
Watching TV-we never realized how much we watched until we had DD and DVR everything-yeah, we're still watching episodes from LAST Oct-thats how far behind we are!
Being able to go straight home from work and take a nap before making dinner
I second the morning sex. I like my sleep too much to have it before then.
Going to the bathroom alone.
Being able to see a movie within the first few weeks of it opening instead of waiting for it to come out on DVD.
I'm in! And WTF, a weekly pedicure? Who has the time/money for that??
Dude I read this too. I was like, "Honestly? Who would even think to do that? And who has $$ for weekly pedicures?" and then a bunch of other girls were all like, "aww how cute, what a good idea, i should do that too." And then I thought to myself the dreaded mommy mantra - 'just you wait...'
After 2 years, Injects, PCOS diagnosis and 2 IUI's, we were blessed with our beautiful twin girls!
