Since the nest is pretty well dead these days, I think I'll try bringing the BOTB here for awhile. We've only got due dates up to February. I know there are more babies expected. If you want to be listed, let me know.

Re: BOTB
1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? I was all about the week by week...I wonder what I'll be like next time around.
2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? Nothing too out of the ordinary. My Mom was very surprised and interested in all the new guidelines and "stuff" that is available 30-odd years later.
3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? They are crazy active. We Skype regularly, try to see all four of them often and they dote on him like he is royalty, lol.
L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? I wanted my Mom and DH there, but nobody else. Turned out just having DH since I ended up with a cs.
First days: How much help did you need/get from your spouse/partner in the first few weeks? Was it about what your expected? DH went back to work as soon as I was discharged from the hospital. My Mom stayed a week with us and she was a godsend. DH and I were so thankful for all her help. It was a lot more tiring than I expected, but Mom made the household (food, laundry, phone calls) so much more managable....I was able to concentrate on recovering and taking care of H.
Updates: We are offically TTC #2. I will gratefully accept all the bumpie dust you can send my way. I actually have a Dr appt tomorrow to check some things out...hoping for good answers!
1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? This pregnancy I liked ready the babycenter emails but I didn't do any other reading.
2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? My mom has shared a few about birth but not tons about during pregnancy.
3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? My MIL takes care of my DS so she is very active. My grandparents lived with me for about 6 months a year when I was growing up so I love that they have a close relationship. I am also super close with my mom and we skype a couple times a week.
L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? My mom was there when I was pushing with DS but wasn't allowed in the OR when I delivered. My mom may not be here this time but I don't really know how I'd feel if my MIL (whom I love a lot) is in the room. Birthing babies is a little private for me. I don't care if she there right up until pushing and right after. I guess time will tell and I'll play it by ear.
1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? I was interested in knowing what was going on each week but I didn't stress out too much about the information.
2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? FIL told me that MIL labored in the park across from their hospital for a few hours because they wouldn't admit her. Each time she had a painful contraction people would look at him like he was hurting her. That made me laugh. My mom likes to tell me how her pregnancy shocked her family because she and my dad had decided 10 years earlier not to have children.
3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? I thought that my mom would be active and FIL not so much and I was right. I think FIL would be a little more active in R's life if it weren't for his wife.
L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? I didn't want anyone except G and the medical staff in my room during delivery. I got my wishes since I had a c-section and only G was allowed in the room.
First days: How much help did you need/get from your spouse/partner in the first few weeks? Was it about what your expected? He was very helpful the first few weeks with some stuff, but he had to return to work after one week so I had to learn how to do stuff on my own.
Updates: I am ready to put leash on R (just kidding). She is scooting everywhere and starting to get into things she shouldn't be touching or chewing. I guess we really need to work on baby proofing.
DD2: February 2014
Dh seems to be handling everything just fine, almost to the point where I'm like, dont you care more?!? He's way more laid back than me! He is starting to feel like pg women are everywhere though, like we can't go one day without hearing someone new is pg. I think maybe he's just better at hiding whatever disappointment he has.

1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? I was not go with the flow AT ALL! But that is probably bc my undiagnosed at the time anxiety kicked into high gear when I got pregnant. Books/websites/info made it worse. I think and hope I'll do better next time
2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? Yes, mostly my MIL and the thing I remember the most is that her last baby was OP and her doc did some crazy maneuver to try and get her to turn.. and she did. I wish the crazy maneuver worked on E.
3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? They are all very active. We facetime with my parents and skype with john's parents and I'd say they see each at least once/month, usually more.
L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver?I only wanted John and my doula, although my parents and my ILs visited during the early stages of labor.
First days: How much help did you need/get from your spouse/partner in the first few weeks? Was it about what your expected? I needed a $hit ton of help after the c/s. It was more than I expected. John went back to work when E was only a week old, which was too early, and after that week he scaled back to PT for a week. Next time he'll take more time off.

1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week?
I loved knowing all the details of what was going on with me and the baby at first. I think the first two trimesters I read every word of the Pregnancy week by week book, but by the end, I would only skim it and more obsess over pictures and animations and stuff just trying to visualize a real baby in there.
2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared?
Yes, they both shared.
3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life?
I think my in laws will be much more active than my parents, just because they are more active in our lives pre-baby as it is.
L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver?
Absolutely not. I only wanted my H and my doula.
First days: How much help did you need/get from your spouse/partner in the first few weeks? Was it about what your expected?
My H took two weeks off and was very hands on and helpful. I think more than I expected. The first few days, he would get up with me at night too to try to help me with bfing (having a 3rd hand was helpful for LO's bad latch). The only difficulty was that we had my MIL with us for the first few days and even though she was so helpful and didn't demand us to entertain her, it was impossible for either of us to relax and NOT entertain her. And so, my H got absolutely no rest because between trying to help me with the baby and my own recovery, and entertain his mom, it was just too much. We both greatly appreciated her, but it was better for all of us once she was gone.
1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? The first time around it seems like I read everything I could get my hands on, this time I'm reading week-by-week (when I remember) and just skimming my babycenter updates.
2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? Yeah, they both have. Nothing too interesting, besides MIL smoking and drinking during all 3 of her pregnancies.
3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? In-laws are much more active, we see them at least once a week. My parents, in a word, suck.
L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? It was just DH and the medical staff with DS1, we were both adamant about that. Looking back, I probably wouldn't have noticed anyone else in the room. This time (unless DH is not there- which is a slight possibiltiy) it will just be us again.
First days: How much help did you need/get from your spouse/partner in the first few weeks? Was it about what your expected? DH took about 4 weeks off. I can be a control freak so I don't remember him (or letting him) be too helpful, and toward the end of his time off it was less and less which I needed to get used to him being back at work. He'll probably take at least as long this time just depending on how I'm handling having 2.
1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? Oh, I wanted to know everything that was going on. After two miscarriages, I wanted all the reassurance that everything was going fine that I could get!
2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? Not really. Well, my mom has shared hers with me before. I mean, I've always known I was a fertility drug baby. It was interesting that she went all-natural with the Bradley Method.
3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? Not 3rd Tri yet, but I can still answer this one. In-Laws--super active. MIL is going to try to come up to watch baby once a week when I go back to work. My mom, as active as she can be (lives in San Diego). There will be much skyping. My dad and step-mom, probably less active, but always happy to see baby (my step-mom has 7 kids and about 10 grandkids already, so she's kinda over it).
L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? Um...no. I'm planning a home birth and #1 my house is tiny. I don't need THAT many people there. #2 It just seems like added stress. I'd be worried that someone wasn't comfortable or something and that would probably delay my labor.
First days: How much help did you need/get from your spouse/partner in the first few weeks? Was it about what your expected?
You can put me on the due date list: February 1st (girl)!
2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? MIL has shared, my mom has not.
3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life?I thought MIL would be more active than she is. She complains about not seeing the boys, but when they are there, she pays attention to them for about 10 minutes and then suddenly has a bunch of other stuff that HAS to get done. My parents are about as active as I expected them to be...we see them about 1x/mo.
L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? Nope. DH only.
First days: How much help did you need/get from your spouse/partner in the first few weeks? Was it about what your expected?DH was home for a month after DS1 was born. It really was way too long. With DS2, he was home for 2 weeks which was just about perfect. When I go back to work in November, DH will take his remaining 4 weeks of PFL to say home with D to delay when he has to go to daycare.
