Update: Midwife called back!

They called back and they have room for me. Her name is Joy and she's british and was so friendly. I am very very excited! My first appointment is November 9th when I will be 9 weeks. She said its a 45 min appointment and its mainly just talking about midwifery and getting a medical history.

Oh I am sooooo relieved and excited I can't wait! :):):):)

Audrey is going to be a big sister!

    Yay I'm so happy for you! I wanted to get a midwife, but they were too busy and couldn't fit me in. Now I am going to have the fight the battle for an as natural as possible birth with my normal OB/GYN. I'm stubborn so it'll happen! I just wish I had a midwife!

    I switched to a MW about halfway through my pregnancy with DD, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.  Glad you were able to find someone you're comfortable with.

    Congratulations!!! That's very exciting!! I sent my application in on Monday to the local Midwife Association here and so I'm just waiting to here back if there is an opening for me. Yay Midwives!!!

    How did you find a midwife? Everyone I know has had a hospital birth with their family physician/OB, I don't even know the first place I'd look in Alberta (major city).

    In april or may there was an article in the local paper about a new practice opening up this summer with some midwives from another practice. but there is also a bc midwives association and website that lists all the registered midwives and their where they provide care for

     I'm sure there must be something for alberta as well. Good luck!
