Getting out of the house fail

DS and I were supposed to meet up with a friend and her DD this morning. We're all packed up and ready to go. DS is in his car seat on the front porch while I go to lock the front door. And lo and behold, I can't for the life of me, get the key out of the lock. I call DH- he doesn't pick up. Call my parents, Dad picks up & suggests WD40. So I bring DS and all our stuff back into the house, run out to the garage and come back with the WD40. By now DS has decided he is done with his carseat and starts screaming. This goes on for 10 minutes of poor baby screaming and me trying to get enough WD40 in there...and the freaking key will not budge!

I called my friend to let her know we were stuck (literally) and that we couldn't leave with the key in the door. Yay for a sweet friend who is now bringing coffee to us...boo to a stupid key.

Poor DS is still sniffle-crying in his sleep on my lap. Taking a deep breath. Phew...thanks for letting me vent.

  • Oh man, that's rough.  Glad you have such a good friend though.  And at least you weren't out of the house with it LOCKED when the key got stuck.  That would SUCK!

  • Oh, geez! What a good friend!  Did you ever get the key out?  Did it bend or something?  I used to get the key stuck in the doorknob when we first moved in, but I think it was something stupid like the door wasn't "clicked" closed.  I feel like I could never get out of the house.  When he wakes up, he has to eat, then I have to pump, oh, he needs his diaper changed, time for him to nap, we'll leave when he wakes up, ok?  Nope, he woke up, he needs to eat, I need to pump, and the whole vicious cycle starts all over again and by the time you realize it, it's time for bed and you never get out of the house.  Atleast you were out the door!

    Hahaha...I know, right?? Pretty good!

And no...the key is still in the lock. LO is asleep on my lap. I figure I'll deal with it later. Good thing we're in a pretty safe neighborhood. Huh?
