I went to the doc today. They wanted to do another ultrasound saying the first one the pics/measures didn't come out right.
I have partial placenta previa and a 2 vein cord. It looks like I'll be going to the specialist next month. I am so freaked out. The doc tells me that this could end in a C section, possible bed rest, and there is a possibility of the baby having kidney issues.
Of course, I googled all this stuff. Which was not a great idea. So I'm worried about my little guy in there. Has anyone else been through this? Did it work out?

Re: My turn to be freaked out...
When I was pregnant, my dr. told me I had placenta previa and would check again at my next appointment to see if it had moved up. Luckily it did, which is very normal. I know quite a few other women who have gone through this also and their placenta moved into the correct place mid-pregnancy. I was super gung-ho about having a natural, drug-free delivery and when she said c-section I freaked out and went home to research. Here is an article I had saved from that day and it sort of eased my worries until the next ultrasound. Hope everything works out for the best!

I had a 2 vessel cord with DD#2 and everything turned out just fine. SUA occurs in 1% of pregnancies, so it's not as rare as you might think. It can be a soft marker, so we did opt to have an amnio even though my other tests results were normal. The amnio was not recommened or pushed by my doctor or the specialist, we just needed to know everything was good genetically for piece of mind. As for monitoring during the pregnancy, I went to a peri for ultrasounds once a month to measure growth and cord blood flow. DD#2 always measured ahead, so no worries there. She was born at 35 1/2 weeks, but she still weighed in at 6lbs 2oz (no NICU). My midwife did say that my placenta was fairly calcified and likely starting to decline in functionality, which probably contributed to the early labor. At any rate, I was able to have a med-free VBAC and DD#2 is a perfectly healthy 11 month old. They did do a kidney ultrasound at the hospital, but everything was normal. Oddly enough, DH's youngest sister was also a 2 vessel cord baby even though there is apparently no familial connection with SUA. She's now a perfectly healthy 30 year old
As for the placenta previa, it can move during your pregnancy so you may not need a c-section. They'll just monitor you with periodic ultrasounds. A close friend of mine had complete placenta previa with #2 and she had a normal, active pregnancy with no bed rest. She was going to have a repeat c-section anyway, but she didn't experience any of the bleeding which can be common towards the end of the pregnancy. While a c-section is not ideal, I had a breeze of a recovery and was back to running in 3 weeks. Of course, my VBAC experience was 100% better, I'm just saying that a c-section isn't as bad it might seem. Basically, having a healthy baby is worth the scar and prolonged recovery.

This.
I was diganosed with placenta previa with DD #2 and went to the perinatologist for over 3 months. I may be in the minority, but I actually liked going to the specialist bc I knew I was getting the best care possible for my LO plus I got extra ultrasounds and got the Dr.'s undivided attention for a good amount of time. In my case, the placenta moved on it's own and everything worked out great. Stay away from google. I did that too when I found out and it scared me to death. Hope everything turns out ok for you!!
