Kendel has been STTN for a long time now (since 1 month I think) but the catch is that she has to sleep in my arms. We had a stint with swaddeling in the crib that worked for awhile but then I gave up EPing so I wanted that extra closeness at night...selfish I know. Well now I'm paying for it! I can't seem to get her to STTN in her own crib. I tried swaddeling her again with her arms loose and that lasted until about 2am. How have you all been transitioning? Also, my DH can sleep through a tornado so he's absolutely no help at night.
Any tips?
Re: Cribs and swaddeling
What happens at 2am?
DS makes it until about 2am before his reflux is irritated enough and in the swing he goes. Perhaps you could put her in the swing. Every couple nights have it swing a little slower until she isnt swing at all. Then after a few nights try the crib again? Perhaps you could use the method HepCats mentioned about sitting next to the crib for 15 minutes and every couple of nights move the chair a little further away until it is eventually out of sight. Leave the chair there all night.
Is she really waking up? Will she take a paci? Sorry for all the questions..
After the first time that we put her in the crip she immediately starts fussing. Insert paci...wait and shsh shh ssshh for a bit until she seems to fall asleep. Back out of the room slowly. Get into bed and covered and then back out I go to replace paci and soothe her again. Repeat this 3-4 times and then give up and bring her in bed with me.
At first she spent a lot of time in the bouncy chair. I wonder if I should try that again instead of swaddling? I think the tighter fit of the bouncy chair might soothe better than the paci gaime. Maybe I'll try that tonight.
