Did I Just Make This Up?

Is menthol okay while pregnant?  I have it in my head it's not for some reason but, I can't remember why and I can't verify that with any source I have but, I really feel like it was something to avoid.

This came up while I was buying cough drops today.  I got the menthol ones because the package didn't say not to but, I have this nagging feeling that's wrong.

  • I have never heard that.

  • That rings a bell to me, too.

ETA: Just looked at my approved meds list and for sore throat it says chloraseptic throat spray or cepacol lozenges. I think cepacol has menthol so it must be okay?

  • Dr. Google said there's no documented risk or trials on menthol during pregnancy.

I just looked up cepacol and indeed, it has menthol in it.  Huzzah!

Thank you.  I wonder WHY we both thought that though?

Yeah, Dr. Google says a lot of things.  :)

Looks like he might have been right this time.

Sweet. Hopefully, since I already bought the cough drops, I'm just crazy.

LOL! I intentionally didn't want to put anything about menthol in the subject line because I was afraid that the first thing people thought of would be smoking!

Maybe we were both thinking of the non-menthol ones that have other ingredients instead and we got them confused? I blame pregnancy brain. In fact, I blame everything on pregnancy brain these days!
