One of my lifelong close friends is celebrating a big birthday this week, and we made plans awhile back to go to the spa. Now that I'm in 2ww, I'm wondering if I should still go through with it. In my last pg, my OB said I could indulge in a massage or pedi as long as it was in a well ventilated place and I warned the spa ahead of time that I was pg. Since I don't know of I am or not, should I err on the side of caution, or stop trying to put myself in a bubble?
Seriously, I feel stupid for posting this! If anyone needs a day at the spa, it's me!
Re: Thoughts on massages/pedicures in 2ww
Not to be stupid, but why not massages? I have a friend who does massage and i get one about once/month. Now i'm paranoid!
Do you know if the spa is well ventilated?
I think the risk is that you could release toxins into your body and that certain pressure points could be hit that would stimulate the uterus.
I don't chart so I'm not sure what dpo I am, but I tested two days ago at CD27 and didn't get a positive. I did try to be mindful of my CM this cycle and think I may have O'd late, and could only be as far as 9-10dpo today at CD29, but really that's a total shot in the dark because I don't temp or anything else. I am holding out to re-test on Friday with a few other ladies that have become my cycle buddies.
The massage is tonight. I may just pretend that I'm KU and discuss it with my massage therapist before she begins.
I think it all sounds like a bunch of hooey.
A "friend" of mine who is due any day wouldn't go for pedicures while she was pregnant. I didn't get it. I thought it was strange since she is also a doctor and it sounded like something she read on the internet on a blog, I thought she would know better.
I know people have their own concerns and fears. Some are rational, some are irrational.
In my opinion, I wouldn't give this a second thought.

Interesting! I know that after a massage, you're supposed to drink tons of water to flush out the toxins, so maybe a massage would actually be beneficial to help release that stuff from your body. I would definitely go, but give the massage therapist a heads up for sure just for peace of mind. Enjoy!
Most massage therapists couldnt trigger that reflex, let alone a pedicurist. Enjoy the mani/pedi..it might actually do your body good to relax~
