xp from gear...chicco keyfit ??

When did you guys take out the padding??  My little guy is pretty long and it seemed that the bottom padding was crunching him so I took it out.  Now he is slouching haha so I'm wondering if I either need to put it back in and raise the shoulder straps or take out the head/neck padding.  He has great head control.

What did you guys do?? You'd think that since its a carseat for up to 30lbs that since he's only 4 months (15lbs and 26in long) old I wouldn't be at the top ring for the shoulder straps and already be taking the padding out...hmmm

    well...nevermind...I just read the owner's manual and its says in very bold/red lettering to never use newborn insert for child over 11lbs...whoops! lol guess I'm taking that out now.  And it also says to keep the straps at or below the shoulders never above...we're at the middle ring just FYI

    Don't worry, I did the same thing.  I thought, "he looks pretty scrunched in there, I wonder when you're supposed to take it out".  We'd been to the pedi that day and he was 11.5lbs.  OOPS!  

    I'd hoped it would make him hate his seat less, but he still hates it.  

    Oh well...

    haha...my little guy is 15lbs so no wonder he looks scrunched!! haha

    This might be a dumb question but are you supposed to take out the head support too?  I took out the bottom part when she hit 11 lbs but could have sworn the Keyfit directions said you could leave than in.

    You leave the head thing in until you need the straps at the top level. 

    I kept it in once the straps were up there for a couple of days, but it makes it difficult to get the harness on.  So... I guess that's why they say to take it out.  I just feel bad because he falls asleep and his head slumps to the side now.

    We have it on the top shoulder slit, and it STILL sits below his shoulders. He just has a super long torso I guess. We've never used the newborn insert, and like PP, he still hates being in the car. We'll be switching to a convertible carseat soon.

    I just took out the bottom padding too.  I did the same thing, our  baby is now around 14 pounds.  When I tried to take out the head pad because he doesn't need it anymore, the seem behind his head leaves a huge mark in his head.  Has anyone else noticed this?

    ohh I was worried about that seam..I have the same thing happen in his bouncy seat when he was shorter...

    the website just said "remove infant padding..." it didn't specify head or bottom one...hmmm I guess I'll just look and see how he looks in it...lol
