Anyone do a gender ultrasound at 16weeks?

I made an appt. at the local 3d/4d to have a gender scan done next week when I will be exactly 16 weeks... I am very excited but she told me she would have to do it in 2d ... BOO.. But I was wondering if anyone else had theirs done this early and if they had success!

my OB actually went to schedule our gender U/S at 16 weeks, but realized he was going to be out of town so we went in at 17 weeks instead. and it was definitely successful! i would think at 16 weeks you will get an answer, so long as baby cooperates.

I had an ultrasound at 17 weeks for other issues. They were able to tell me the sex while we were checking on other things. They seemed pretty certain about it so you might be able to find out at 16 weeks.

I found out at 15w 5d with my first child. It wasn't a scan for the gender, we were having an u/s done for a health scare and I asked if they could take a peek. The tech had no problem writing 'GIRL' on the monitor but I held out on buying anything pink until it was confirmed....which it was 4 weeks later.

I was 16 weeks 1 day when they said boy, just had it confirmed at my A/S at 20 weeks 1 day Smile

Mine was clear as day at 17 weeks, 3 days. The u/s place we go to doesn't allow you to come until 17 weeks, but they guarantee you that they will get it right, even if the baby doesn't cooperate and you have to go back in several times.

But I will say that we held off on buying much until our anatomy u/s. Just in case. We got 4 clear shots of the 3 lines, but it was only a 3 week wait.

All of the 3d/4d u/s places out here say that they can determine gender at 14w.

We have ours at the Dr office Monday! Can't wait!

FYI - you do not want a 3D scan till at least 26 weeks or so. They look like aliens; totally unattractive. 2D is what is standard until about that time and it's very easy to see the gender if baby is cooperating, especially with boys!

My place did like 30 seconds of a 3D to show me what it looked like and I was happy to go back to 2D! LOL! They have no fat and are long and skinny! Scary!!

My nurse/midwife refused to even guess until 20 weeks : ( when I had an 18 week sono I asked her if she could see it and she told me that she wasn't even looking at that part and she wouldn't tell me until I was 20 weeks anyway so she could be sure : (

I actually disagree with this. . . I had u/s done for other medical reason during week 16, 17, 18 and finally my anantomy @ 20w4d. Each time they switched between 2D and 3D-- I actually like the 3D. Yes, baby is "odd" looking, but it looked like a baby to me. My mom did call him an alien in the 16w4d picture. So that is personal preference. (And if they are moving alot my understanding is the 3D don't come out very good)

However, I believe, they do the gender check in 2D. I've had them look at everyone of my appointments and they always check the gender in 2D and thens show me his face etc. in 3D.

I found out last weekend at 15 weeks 3 days. Mine was in 2D as well but 1/2 way through the guy switched to 4D. It was so awesome to see our little boy in there even if he was super skinny and alien looking! Big Smile

I had mine at 16 weeks. It was 2d as well. But we did find out we're having a boy! I have my 20 week on Monday!

Had an u/s at 12 weeks and the tech said she thought it was a boy. Getting another one at 15 weeks and hoping to get a more definite answer

I just made an appointment today to have one at 16 weeks. Since I have an option of doing just 2D or paying more for a 2D/4D package, I asked if the 4D would make it easier to determine the sex. She said they always determine sex using 2D. I guess it probably makes it easier for a girl determination because they are looking for those 3 lines rather than the absence of a penis.

We found out at 16w1d, and it was pretty obvious, the doctor said he is sure that it's a girl. It wasn't 3D/4D, it was just the dinky portable machine in my doctor's office.

I found out she was girl at 15 wks exactly. I went to 3d place. It was confirmed at my20 wk ultrasound. The tech was very sure at 15 wks but I didn't buy pink till 20 wks.
