Anyone have babies with similar stats to ours? How much hiding out are you going to be doing? We get our first Synagis on Thursday...
I plan on not exposing them to any children and making anyone who comes into our house wash their hands, but I'm going to go CRAZY!!!! I am a social person and my hubby is in the military, where we have LOTS of social gatherings...its going to be so sad to miss out on the fun. Of course I'll suck it up for my babes, but its still going to be a big bummer. ![]()
Re: RSV season is going to be such a bummer!
Hmm - well we don't qualify for the shot. Our pedi just said to avoid large crowds indoors. This will not change who we invite over and socialize with. I just won't be taking him on public transit until after the season is over and he is older. When we go to church we sit downstairs and watch it on the TV - we'll head up about five min before the end of service and wait for our driving friends outside to avoid well intentioned love from the crowd
We are in such a strict lockdown!
- Synagis shots
- No public outings to indoor places
- No public outings to crowded places
- No visitors holding baby unless they've had flu/pertussis vaccines and not been around anyone with an illness
- No exposure to kids in playgroup or daycare
- No large gatherings of people (no family christmas/thanksgiving/1st bday)
- Lots of hand washing
- DH has to change clothes/shower after coming home from the airport
They said if I absolutely had to get out with her, to use hand sanitizer after every single thing I touched before I touched her.
I am officially like WHOA. But regardless, it's SO MUCH BETTER than last winter, when I had to drive to the hospital every day to see my babe. I think my biggest bummer is that her first birthday is in a few weeks. She can't even have cake
I think I will throw a One Year Nicu Graduation party for her b/c she came home in the middle of April and hopefully she can have a little smash cake by then and we can have a party
Our rules aren't quite as strict as kaylaaimee's but they are close:
-monthly shots (the pedi actually found a way to give us one a month early even though our insurance wouldn't pay for it0
-no indoor crowds
-limited public outdoor activities (ie-we did the pumpkin patch but left when it got crowded, we are debating the zoo with friends in a couple weeks)
-limited visitors, no one who even thinks they are sick
-DH changes clothes when he comes home
-lots of hand washing etc
-family holidays only if everyone is completely healthy (which probably means no gatherings)
The pedi says if we have to go out with her to keep her covered in the stroller or wear her, sanitize between touching anything and touching DD, etc.
So its overwhelming and a little frustrating since we were on lock down from May to mid-August when she came home so we haven't had much "out" time. However, one of our NICU friends has already been hospitalized for RSV so we are willing to do everything we can to avoid that! I'm planning on doing lots of projects and cleaning out the house to entertain myself.
Our precious girl, born at 27 weeks.
Pretty much this
Yep!
And I think holidays are completely out unless grandparents come to our house.
Question for you devinjonesrn: we have a 6 month old/4 month adjusted preemie and hubby is also military, which means we are a long way from "home" and family. We're doing ok for lockdown this year with him around, but have you heard of how to do lockdown during a deployment? We just received orders and I'm looking for resources but obviously can't rely on the CDC, and am concerned about babysitters/other families bringing in RSV. Not sure how to deal with grocery shopping, etc. when on lockdown and by myself. Have you seen any resources anywhere? Thanks! Hope all is well with you and your LOs
