Do you have DVD or Blue-ray? Do you still have VHS?

So many new movies are coming out on Blue-Ray.....or you buy the combo. Do you have a blue-ray player or a DVD?

If you buy movies now, would you buy the combo if available?

We belong to the Disney Movie Club and I just don't know which to get, will DVD be phased out like VHS or worse Beta?

Second ?......do you still own VHS and play them? Would you buy a DVD or Blue-Ray disc movie if you already owned it on VHS?

We typically do a "family" gift for Christmas, so we're thinking of a Blu-ray player with wi-fi so that we can stream Netflix to it for this year. Haven't bought too many DVDs yet, but if they come in a combo pack, then I typically get it so that we can also play it on the portable DVD player we take for long trips and to use on the TV in our basement playroom.

We do still have a VHS player, with all of the Disney movies I bought way back when. The player is in our bedroom right now, but I've been meaning to move it downstairs to the playroom and hook it up to that TV so that I can show all of those movies to Ian. I guess once the player breaks, I'll replace all of the videos with DVDs as I see them in the stores.

We own a blue -ray player, several DVD players and serveral VHS. I buy a lot of children's shows in VHS because they are sturdy and hold up to the kids using them by themselves, plus no one wants them anymore and they pretty much give them away at yard sales. Also, Ty likes the old story book shows that are pictures with a narator rather than moving anamation, I don't think they make these anymore and I can only find them in old VHS. I have a bunch that once belonged to libraries. We rarely purchase movies, DVD or BlueRay. I actually wouldn't buy any more hard copy anything. With the way media is going, I think another 10 yrs and most hard copy stuff (DVD, HDDVD, Blue0Ray) will all be obsolete. Everything will be digital.

No Blu-Ray player, although I'm sure DH would love one. I see no reason to go out and get one, with two perfectly good DVD players right in our living room (one is surround sound so we have to have both! *sarcasm*). We also have the laptop, the XBox (in another room), a small one upstairs, and the car DVD player. We do have a VHS player, although it is randomly on a shelf in our closet. We haven't used it since before we moved in here (2.5 years ago). But I have a bunch of Disney movies on VHS and it seems silly to get new ones on DVD. One of our DVD players is supposed to be able to convert and burn from VHS to DVD, which was a big selling feature to me so maybe one day, I'll figure it out and switch them over. I've been thinking lately it would be nice to get rid of the VHS tapes, so maybe sooner than later...

TPB is probably right and at some point it will all go digital. We have at least 250 movies/shows on DVD and we'll be keeping/using them when that happens!

Right now we only have a DVD player and don't have any plans on getting a Blu-ray anytime soon. In fact I was so POed when I went to surprised DH with the new Pirates DVD (released today) only to find I have to wait another freaking month to get the DVD. Until then I can only buy the Blu Ray or Blu Ray/DVD combo for nearly twice the cost of a DVD. (So no, I won't buy the combo when available)

I just talked DH into dropping our VHS's off at the Salvation Army when we moved. We had so many and they took up so much space and were so heavy that I argued they weren't worth it anymore.
