Recommend a crib soother

DS chills out in the Pack N Play and plays and kicks around in there during the day here and there. In there, we have a mobile (no sounds or movement- a black and white high-contrast one that he loves to look at.) He has never slept in the Pack N Play. I also have the FP Rainforsest Crib Soother in there ( This is what it is-?https://reviews.fisher-price.com/6194/38143/reviews.htm ).?

I have this in his crib now. It is a giraffe stuffed animal thing that makes four sounds.?https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001S5E0RU/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000GKWA66&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=13WFTYDBMC9E6APVBX34?I don't know if it is going to be helpful for getting him to sleep, though.?

I would almost rather put something new in his crib. I am open to ideas. ?Maybe one of those glowworms? Another FB crib soother? Or should I move the one from the Pack N Play?

?Sorry, I am kind of obsessed because I have a 1 1/2 year old niece who is not a good sleeper at all- she is still up all night. I want to try do the right thing. Thanks!?

I'm on a Mac, so sorry for the non-clicky links. ?

Re: Recommend a crib soother

  • We had the FP rainforest one and also the ocean wonders one.  The girls loved both.  I think the ocean one came with a remote control, which came in handy a few times!

  • I would just move the one you have to his crib. those things are expensive!

My DD has the FP Seahorse and she didn't really show that much interest in it when she was younger. She'll play with it now, but it wasn't helpful to us as a soother, but I know lots of people swear by it.

We have the Sleep Sheep which sounds similar to your giraffe (I didn't check your link). We have it hooked onto DD crib and we play the ocean sounds every night as she goes to sleep. We've been using it since we brought her home from the hospital.

We have this crib soother: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004C43XMW

DD is mesmerized by it and will stop fussing if we turn it on, but it only stays on for like 5 minutes. The first few times we tried it, she would start fussing/crying as soon as it turned off, but she figured out how to turn it on herself so now she'll turn it back on if she's not finished. You can hook up an mp3 player to it if you want, but we just use it on the "cricket sounds".  We don't use it every night though. I only use it if she doesn't seem sleepy at all when I put her down.

DD is a really good sleeper, but honestly, it has nothing to do with the Sleep Sheep or the crib soother. I think some of it is personality (some babies are better at self-soothing and are better sleepers than others) and some of it is sleep training. We followed the "Healthy Sleep Habits, Habit Baby" book for sleep training and it's made a huge difference.

     good luck to you!!
