Two Under 2

"If you have more than 2 or 3 kids you will DIE!!!"

"Whoa, 20 months apart??? You'll have your hands full!"

"Are you going to try to wait a little longer next time so they aren't so close?"

"How will you ever live if you have that many kids!?"

People are so crazy.
I wish more families were still old fashioned when it came to having/wanting a large number of kids. Or at least less dramatic.

  • I totally agree.  My grandma had 4 kids by the time the oldest had just turned 3.  (The first two were about 15 months apart, then she had twins about 20 months after that.)  She did just fine.  :)  Then she and my grandpa even had 3 more kids after that.  (Although there was an 8 year gap between the twins and the next baby (#5).)

  • That's a bummer, hear I thought I had a great life, only to come to the realization that I was actually dead since I gave birth to my third child?!Stick out tongue

Seriously, I completely understand that a large family isn't for everyone, but I don't go and judge them for ONLY having one or two kids, why do they need to judge us?!

  • We haven't told anyone yet and I'm dreading these comments! We haven't decided if we are having a 3rd and if we do I just can't wait to hear the comments!

  • I agree...people think we are nuts for having 3 that are 2 years apart...I just don't get it I guess...We may even go for a fourth.  For some reason, the idea of a large family is not what it used to be!

  • I am one of five kids, and I like to tell my mom I think she's nuts for having so many ;) I would never change it - it's so fun having a big family - but it's just not for me. I have a friend expecting number 7 and I am just in awe of her mothering skills!

Even though we will only have 3 at the most, I really resent the comments we get about being done at 2 or 3. How many kids to have isn't anyone's business but the parents, and it makes me crazy that people think they have a right to comment on or be part of that decision.

  • Lurking.... My BFF just told me she is pregnant with #2 & her kids will be 20 months apart. Our boys are the exact same age now. I tell her that I think she's crazy, but there really isn't any judgement. It's not for me, but I'm sooooo excited that she's willing to have more right now!! My SIL also has 4 boys ages 3-8. Again, not my style, but I'm soooooo happy that I have so many nephews to love & spoil. I know each family is different, but GEEZ, where do you ladies get the energy?? I work a full time job (teacher) & my husband works full time. We have a house, 2 pets, a yard, our families both live out of town, and we are SO BUSY with DS!! You go girls!!!!
  • Hahaha!

My first two are 16.5 months apart, my 2nd and 3rd will be about 19.5 months apart. Guess I'm doomed ;-)

  • I am dreading comments from people when we come out completely that I am pg with #3.  I know people will say things, but I dont care.

We want a larger family than normal, and why not? we have the love, time, and finances to do so.

And to the poster who asks how we do it all, I think I speak for us all when I say, we just do. You love your kids and wouldnt want it any other way (even if it wasnt planned to have 2u2) so you make it work and end up loving it (most days ;)

I agree. Next time I get a comment like that I am going to say "You ONLY have *TWO* kids/?!?!?!?! Whatever do you do all day? Its kind of lazy, dont you think?" :p

Oh, I like that one! I'll have to remember it for next time, because you know it will happen again!

  • I, too, wish larger families were more understood these days. I know it's not for everyone, but WE are the ones raising these kids, and we choose it. I definitely get these kind of comments all.of.the.time and it gets old.

  • " Oh my, how many are you going to have?"  Is my favorite.  Love the lazy with only two comment!!!   Mine are 5, almost 4, 17 months, and half way with #4.  We have wanted four since we met.  People should keep their thoughts to themselves.  I am not dead yet...some days tired though =)
  • Yeah those are all annoying. Especially when they come from people who have only one child (or none at all). Because they obviously know better than anyone what having 2 (or more) is like.
