Nature, Induction or C-Section - Vent about my Drs.

After today's appointment I am SO confused on what to do!  Baby is measuring very big - but maybe they are wrong.  The baby also is not engaged at all and I am only 75% effaced and a fingertip dialated.  My doctor says to wait it out, but did schedule an induction next Wednesday, but my doctor is against induction and we didn't even discuss c-section.  My Maternal Fetal Specialist today said not to go past next Wednesday and I should consider C-Section.

I guess my frustration is I wish someone would give me a clear answer.  I want the baby to be healthy and at this point I don't care how baby gets here as long as baby is healthy.  If I need to wait it out I will - if I need to have a c-section I will - I just don't know what to do.  I feel like I am not getting enough information and the conflicting reports are upsetting me.

Just had to vent and see if anyone else has had this problem.

Thanks.

Every person I know IRL who has had a baby weight estimate to be large has turned out to be wrong by more than a pound.

I had GD with my last pregnancy and on my final regularly scheduled doc appointment (which was on my due date) the doctor told me nothing looked imminent.  She scheduled a NST for me in 4 days and (without my knowledge) an induction for a week later.

I went into labour on my own 3 days after my due date and had a quick and uneventful labour/delivery.  It can happen!

Pregnancy, labour and delivery are not an exact science.  Opinions will vary and you should feel free to voice your own opinion on the matter - what you think counts too!

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am

I don't have any helpful advice, I just wanted to say vent away! That is soo frustrating!  You would think the medical experts could come to an agreement.

Did the MFS give any specific concerns or reasons for not wanting you to wait?

    DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.

I did not have that problem but I was induced at 39 weeks. (My doctor was very clear with her opinion). The size estimates were very accurate. The growth ultrasound said 6 lbs. 4 oz and 4 days later DS was born at 6 lbs. 8 oz.

I ?cant compare c/s to induction for you. I ?had ? medical reasons not ?to have a c/s.I was at 0% effaced and dilated.?It took 3 days and was painful and stressful.?

The recovery time and hospital stay is longer with a c-section but it may be needed in your case. ??

Well, depends on how accurate your dr's office usually is.  Ask them.  They should be able to tell you their rate of accuracy.  My sister was predicted to have an 11lb baby (her second) and her dr actually strongly recommended a c-section, which she did.  He was 10.5lbs.  So I would talk to your dr again about what is the best option and your concerns regarding the size of the baby.  My dr is also against induction but only EARLY induction where it's less likely to result in success and more likely to result in a c-section.  He scheduled me at exactly 40wks for induction and sounds like your dr did the same.  But I would call back and discuss your frustration over not knowing what is the appropriate approach for you given the conflicting advice you are receiving.  GL!!
