I live in the Centreville area and am in search of a store with used baby items. In particular toys, highchairs, strollers. My lil one is growing so fast I hate to pay full retail value for items.
I've tried a consignment store off of 29, but they have a very small toy selection.
I've tried Salavation Army in Manassas and they do not sell baby items (except clothes in their store). Supposedly they sell baby items at an auction in Alexandria?
Are there any stores or auctions in the area I could try?
Re: NoVA: Where to purchase used baby items
you should also check out Craiglist and sign up for your local freecycle group (freecycle.org)
Try Unique Thrift Store. I'm not sure of all of the locations in VA but I know there's one in Merrifield. Their prices tend to be a bit higher than what you'd expect at some thrift stores, however, their stores are very organized, they have a large inventory, and their stuff turns over quickly so everytime you go there is new stuff. You also get 25% off on Mondays and if you get a free membership card, you can also get 25% off on Thursdays. If you sign up for their email list, they will send you emails for their 50% off days.
I have gotten lots of great toys there. I also get most of DD's clothes there.
Yes! My husband & I went to a big sale at the end of September and there was tons of stuff - we picked up the exact stroller we'd been looking for at 1/4 original price (CL postings were selling for 1/2), a baby carrier for $10 (normally 80ish for that brand), a bath tub, boppy pillow, blankets, clothes, socks, etc. We got there half an hour before the sale opened and then had to wait another half hour because they only let so many people in at a time (fire code regulations) but it was totally worth it. Not only were things cheaper than CL but the convenience of having it all in one place - rather than searching for each item separately & then going out to pick them up across NoVA - it was amazing. We're going to another this weekend in search of a bassinet/mini crib, more clothes & swaddle blankets, another carrier, and some BF equipment.
Kid to Kid in Centreville is a great store, but very small selection. It is good quality stuff though.
I tried Unique. I went on a Wed and they had 25% on apperal. The toys there stinked. Alot of them were missing parts. The store was so crowded I'm sure the good stuff flew off the shelves. The did have alot of clothes though and they had strollers and baby equipment which you generally cannot find at a thrift store.
I also tried Salvation Army, great for clothes, but they do not sell toys or baby equipment. They said they ship it overseas.
So, end result, I've found consignment sales are the best for getting toys and baby equipment. Was hoping to find a store that sells them and has a big selection and fair prices.
