Blanket or no Blanket???

My daughter is seven months old and sleeping through the night in her crib. Now that the weather is getting cold I do not want her to be cold during the night. Do you think it would be okay to use a blanket that is crushaded ( spelling check) you know the ones that people make you that have the holes. This way if it goes over her face she can still breathe. Or should I keep layering her up? Any thoughts? She is suitting up, crawling, and pulling herself up on the crib.

I wouldnt, I would do a sleep sac and sleeper/long sleeve onsie depending on how cold it is. You can buy Halo sleep sac's with little feet holes since she is standing. Im pretty sure they are at Babies 'R' Us.

DS sleeps with a kitted blanket every night and has since we de-swaddled. A crocheted one would be fine.

My Son is seven months old and I put a blanket on him every night. I put in him long pajamas and I place the blanket a little below his arms.

My son sleeps with a blanket. I was a nervous wreck in the beginning but it was the only way he would sleep. He likes to run it through his fingers so it never ends up over his head.

I'm wondering the same thing. I've gotten so paranoid about everything to do with putting things in the crib that I just don't know what to do. There is no way that my DD would do a sleep sack, even with the leg holes. She is all over the place and that would make her frustrated!

At this time I'm just putting her in warm enough stuff and we will keep the heat pumped up ... but I'm in Northern CA, so it never gets THAT cold anyway. If I lived somewhere else, I'd probably have to re-think.

We have a crocheted blanket for LO (it used to be DH's). We have her in a sling and she can't roll so that's a plus and honestly when I go in to check on her the blanket never moves (you know, she doesn't pull it up to her face or anything) until she wakes up then she kicks it off. I have been thinking about investing in a fleece sleep sac for piece of mind.

DD is a sleep sack girl, has been since we deswaddled. DS though was a blanket boy and had to have his blankie in bed with him after 6 months. It gets really cold here and when it does (-40) I plan on using blankets + sleepsack in dd's crib. It should be fine. Especially with the crocheted kind.

We sleep her in a sleep sack with a long sleeved onesie or footie pj's. I do bring a blanket for her day care crib tho. I noticed almost every other baby had one, so I felt like it would be okay since they can watch her with it. So that lead me to try sleeping her with a blanket at night and every time I lay it over her I find she's kicked it off within an hour. So we just stick with the sleep sack for now.

We have a sleep sack for DD for when it gets really cold (but it's not cold enough yet). For now, we do footie pajamas and I put her down with her lovie (one of those little blankets with a head on it) and she cuddles it. I go in 30 min to 1 hour later and pull it away from her face and put it down by her feet. She can get to it if she wakes up (and she always does in the morning) but I feel much more comfortable knowing it's away from her face and neck while she sleeps.

We've considered adding a blanket but it hasn't worked out because she moves around a lot and always climbs out from under it. So, we've just been layering a long-sleeved onesie under warm pj's.

I think I'm the minority here but LO has always had a blanket...actually a few. He also never rolls over..yet..and hates to be on his stomach. I usually put the blanket under his arms so his hands are free . This kid loves to snuggle with a blanket and usually throws it over his face. Good thing for a video monitor.. after he's asleep I will go in and move it. I think a light weight blanket is fine.. especially at 7 months.

Our DD's blanket is her lovey...she has to have it every where we go so she sleeps with it every night. I am not worried.

I've been letting DD sleep with a crocheted blanket for at least two months now. She loves to pull it up to her face to sleep, and I'm not worried about her suffocating. She can move around just fine if she needs to readjust.

Mine won't sleep without a blanket. We learned this when we got rid of the swaddle around 4 months. She likes to pull it up by her face. The pedi said it was okay b/c she could move enough to move the blanket if it is keeping her from breathing. So, we've used a blanket every night for several months. I also have a velboa sleep sack she uses when it is cold. She often kicks off the blanket, and the sleep sack keeps her feet warm. I got it on amazon.com:

I asked Chase's pedi about this last month. She told me a light blanket. Not a quilt or anything like that.

That being said, I still use a Sleep Sack with the little man. He for some reason or another thinks blankets = playtime.

I use a light blanket. She gets hot easily... like I've snuggled with her on our couch and put us both under my blanket and she would start to get sweaty. I've bought some aden and anais blankets in hopes they will keep her warm without over heating.

No blanket. I hate to put this sad story on here again, but about a month ago, I know someone who lost a 9 month old because of sleeping with a blanket.

My son sleeps with three blankets. Embarrassed

He has one behind his back to tilt him on his side, one that wraps under him and tucks in under his armpits, and another I wrap around his feet. He never moves around his crib though, he is a hardcore sleeper. It's probably not the best idea though, I honestly just never thougth of it being a danger to him, maybe because I have an Angelcare monitor? PP's remimder story though has me rethinking this whole set-up. I just can never find a really warm sleep sack.

I used to put a blanket in bed with DS, until he started rolling around & I woke up to him with a blanket on his head! When (err, IF) it gets cold here, I'll invest in a sleep sack.

My baby knows how to pull a blanket off of his face, probably due to excessive peek-a-boo playing during the day. Give it a test run during the day.

We have let LO sleep with an aden + anias blanket for 2 months now. He is blanket obsessed and likes to hold it in his hands. he usually kicks it off and it ends up by his feet by morning but he is very mobile and moves all around the crib at night, including standing and holding onto the sides and yelling for his paci so im not too concerned, we also have the angle car monitor though.
