I had a shower saturday, and we got a little bit of money from some guests. Well, we've spent a little bit of it to get groceries and now i'm feeling terrible about it. We both promised to give it back, but still. This probably sounds a little silly, and I know that money was meant to get whatever we needed for him. But we pretty much have everything we need and I still have another shower next month. I just feel bad and need to hear that i'm not the only one I guess or that we weren't wrong for doing it lol.

Breastfeeding and pregnant!
I really don't think it's a big deal at all.
We got a $20 Walmart gift card and I used it for groceries. The baby is in my belly and my belly needs food. Don't beat yourself up about it.
Sweetie, please don't get on the mom guilt train already. You spend that cash anyway you feel like it. Thats what a gift is for. If the gifter didn't trust you to make sound decisions with your money, they would have given you a bbrus gift card. Your family is number one, and the baby is included in that family. So groceries are more than an appropriate way to spend those funds.
I got a gift from Nordies for the baby, that i would never use, returned it and bought an entire outfit for my high school reunion. I'm not an ***, I just know my baby will be 100% taken care of and i wanted to look cute while i'm carrying her.
I hope you bought some amazing food at the grocery store! You deserve it.

I was raised to save the money I received as a gift in a savings account or put it towards something much bigger to go with that time period in my life (example, 16th birthday money-save for a car; graduation-save for college).
I'd feel super guilty too if I spent it on groceries. However, as I grow older I realize that it's not always possible to designate money for certain things as it was when you're younger and don't have bills and other expenses.
I would try and justify it this way---Pick something YOU have bought for baby. Maybe you spent $40 for groceries today but spend $40 on a bouncer a few months ago.
Personally I like to have something to write about the money in thank yous. "Dear Sue, Thank you so much for the gift of money. We put it towards a bouncer and I'm sure baby will love it!"
Don't beat yourself up about it. Now if you went out and blew all the shower money on getting your hair and nails done it would be a different story. Like you said, you need food...you don't eat, baby doesn't eat!
This is my thoughts exactly!
