I delivered in Voorhees. The labor and delivery staff was fantastic! The postpartum nurses and lactation consultants were terrible. By the time I was ready for discharge both a nurse and a lactation consultant had me on the verge of tears. Basically instead of helping me with the pain I was experiencing during BFing they told me to suck it up in so many words. My friend delivered there in August and despite asking numerous times a lactation consultant never even came to her room, the nurses had to give what little advice they had on BFing.
I'd still deliver there though because I loved my doctor's office, the L & D staff and I know in the grand scheme of things its only a few days in the hospital.

I delivered both of my children, via C, at Virtua voorhees. I had quite the opposite experience as the previous poster. My post partum nurses were wonderful! I didn't have to ask twice for anything, my pain meds were always ready when I wanted them and I just had nice nurses. very caring. Maybe because I was a C patient, and there much longer?
I BF both children.. still going strong with the baby, but I do have to say they have the worst LC's. With my son, I was literally molested by the LC... it was so uncomfortable. This time around, they tried to help me, but having already done it once, I needed very little help and I had a baby who knew what to do. She latched on 5 minutes into my recovery and was back at birth weight before I left the hospital. If you plan to BF, I def. think you should take a class, and know that going in, the LC's can be a little more desirable.
I delivered at Mt. Holly in May and had a great experience. I was a little nervous since I'd heard mixed reviews, but I have nothing but positive things to say about the facility, staff (including the LC's- they were fabulous and I'm 19 weeks BFing and going strong), food, rooms, etc. They have 9 newly renovated mother/baby rooms which were very nice. I didn't even know they had new rooms until they put me in one- that wing was closed when I went on my tour.
I had a c-section and was on magnesium sulfate for 24 hours, so I was a hot mess. I stayed in L&D for 24 hrs. after my section, where they have strict rules about visitors, but since I was on the m.s. they really bent the rules for my family. They didn't have to do that, but it was nice of the nurses to allow them up to see me and the baby.
Thank you for a positive post regarding Mt. Holly. I heard mixed reviews too and it scares me since my docs only deliver there. Was your recovery from the C section rather "painless" how long did it take?
Sorry for the delay in my reply- I started back to work this week so I didn't get my usual nest time during DD's nap
I definitely loved my experience at Mt. Holly. My docs only deliver there too- I go to Phoenix. I would love to deliver my next baby there, too, when the time comes. If you BF, they have a BFing Support Group every Wednesday at the hospital. I went for 16 weeks and met lots of new moms. It was a great weekly outing for me and DD and it was nice to have other women to talk to. I highly recommend it if you are BFing.
My recovery wasn't that bad but the first 2 days were rough. At the hospital, DH did all of the baby leg-work, changing diapers, getting her dressed, etc. and he would just hand her to me. I didn't even change her diaper until just before we left the hospital. I didn't have any discomfort BFing or carrying DD, but the hardest thing for me was getting in and out of bed. Just doing that sit up, lay down motion felt like I was ripping my sutures open. I had to do it veeeeery slowly with lots of deep breathing. I think it took about 2 weeks for me to feel back to "normal" but I still took it easy until about 4 weeks.
Do you know for sure that you're having a c-section?
Thats great to hear. I am glad you are doing well now
I am not sure that I am having a c-section, however the doctor did say I was pretty small and that because of my body type and structure that a c-section is highly likely. I rather be prepared however than to think that I wont be having one and last minute freak out. I am sort of the "prepare ahead" so youre not terrified type of person.
I do plan on BFing so that is good to know they have a group. I've still got a while to go but I'm gathering all the info that i can now so im not as afraid when the time comes.
I delivered at Mount Holly, and it was a fantastic experience. There was only one PP nurse I did not care for, but aside from her, the L&D nurses were amazing, and I feel like I got wonderful care there. I will be delivering there again next June!

I had the exact same experience. Being a FTM, I had no idea what to expect, and if I asked a "rookie question" they practically laughed at me (actually they did once, and then laughed with others about it in front of my face).
They never took the time to explain anything to me, and then seemed aggravated that they needed to back track and spend a few moments with me. I felt like an idiot most days for not knowing what was supposed to be happening.
Thank god I had a c/s because I stayed a couple extra days, otherwise I would have never seen a LC. My nurse was actually a private LC (side job) but she never bothered to tell me that. I found out from another nurse how wonderful of an LC she is.
WTF? I've been requesting to see an LC for days from you, no one has come, and you didn't bother to give me advice or mention the fact that you are one???
I felt belittled constantly.
Overall, it wasn't a completely horrific experience. I'll have my second child there, but I won't be afraid to speak up.
My son was 6 1/2 weeks early and was delivered and admitted to NICU at voorhees. I couldn't have asked for a better experience all around!! With Justin being in the NICU though, I wasnt transferred up to the maternity floor where the regular nursery is. I stayed on L&D. My team throughout my 36 hour labor and delivery was amazing (except 1 that blew my IV when she put it in but I only had to deal with my first 3 hours I was there before the shift change) and the team I had after that was great! I had an LC in there 4 hours after he was born and I was pumping like crazy by the next morning! He couldn't eat until he was 3 days old since he was tubed, but they were right there for the first latch on inside the NICU with me as well! I also suffered from post-partum psychosis in which they brought in a special nursing staff for me as well. The nurse assigned to my son in the NICU was incredible and just so sweet. I was parked at his incubator for 20 hours a day and she always made me so comfortable. My next one is due in June and I can't wait to have my birthing experience at the new Voorhees location (minus the NICU stay of course)! I hope everything works out for you!
