Franklin Square doctor recs

Hi ladies,

It's been a while! I used to somewhat post regularly on the knot and nest, but I tend to just lurk more these days.
Anywho...I have a question...To make a long story short, I have had some bad experiences with some OB/GYNs at Hopkins (Canton office) and recently found a great doctor through Mercy. Sadly, turns out my new great doctor accepts my insurance, but Mercy (actual facility) does not. Why? Who knows. So, now I'm on the search for a new OB/GYN. Does anyone have experiences (good or bad) with any doctors at Franklin Square? Thank you in advance.

Happy Friday!
Beth

Re: Franklin Square doctor recs

  • I go to White Square OBGYN which is right across the street from the hospital.  Dr. Kolkas is wonderful.  She delivered DS and was very helpful during the whole pregnancy.  My regular doctor from that practice is Dr. Elgin.  She is also wonderful :)  Can't really complain about any of the doctors there.

Very interesting that Dr. Kolkas delivered your DS, because when I was going to the practice she did not deliver, but she did see patients. Dr. Hessa delivered my DD, but I switched practices because I wasn't happy with my care during my 1st pregnancy. They definitely missed several signs of pre-e for several weeks. I ended up delivering early.

I now see Dr. Couelis and Kaplan in Abingdon, MD. They deliver at FSH. I had a very positive experience with all the on-call OB's, nurses and NICU staff at FSH, so I will definitely be delivery again in April.

  • Yeah...had DS come on the day he was due it would have been Hessa.  I am really glad it was Kolikas though.   I have heard that practice finding problems with pregnancies before other practices!!!

  • I got to Women's Care OB/GYN at Bel Air and normally see Dr. London.  They also have an office in Dundalk.  I've seen some of the other doctors in the office during my pregnancy and everyone has been awesome.  They deliver at FSH.

  • I use Womans Care and see Dr London. I used to go to their Dundalk office and always had a terrible wait and felt a little uncomftorable in their office....saw a few druggie moms, SEVERAL soon to be moms with those house arrest bracelets on their ankle. I really like the White Marsh office. Dr Tran from Dundalk ended up delivering both of my girls though.
  • good to know...thanks!

  • So another question...

If I choose Women's Care OB/GYN, can I switch and go around to the different offices or am I tied to say the Dundalk or White Marsh?

  • No you cant. The Dundalk has 3 Drs and a midwife and seemed wasy to get an appt but you have to wait forever. The other is just Dr London but I never waited more then 10 minutes and it was really easy to get an appointment.

  • I have heard many great things about Dr. London. White Square OBGYN is where I had my DS, however Dr. Milstein is no longer with their practice.

  • I used to work at Franklin Square and worked with many of the OB's in the OR. I picked Dr. James Thompson for his success in the OR as well as in regular deliveries.  I think it is a must for your OB to be as good as a surgeon as an OB since at times they must do surgery. I was extremely happy with him during my pregnancy. He is extremely approachable and has been doing this for a good amount of time....althought not too old that he is outdated :) He unfortunately did not deliver me, Dr. Lenowitz did. And again.....very happy!

Good to know. I believe Dr. Thompson and Lenowitz are the other on-call OB's that my practices is tied with.
