**fricksgirl **

Just wondering how the Fricks family performance went!  I hope it went fabulous!

Re: **fricksgirl **

  • Thank you for thinking of us!

It wasn't so hot.  Indifferent  At least on Alex's part.  Indifferent

He freaked out once he got in front of the audience.  I think it was a combo of nerves and of the fact that my DH wasn't there and there were a lot of moms and dads there.  I begged my DH to come but he totally kept blowing me off saying me being there was enough and he was swamped at work, which I understand... but.  I am always here, and Alex really needed someone just for him in the audience.  The play was for an assembly at 2:30 PM, so not exactly an easy time to get to.

So between that and just being generally ervous, he totally pretty much melted down and ended up in trouble because he was flailing around and accidentally socked the kid in front of him (not hard), but that happened in the first song and it was nothing but downhill from there.

    Lessons learned:

    1.  Kindergarteners aren't exactly at their mentally healthiest at 2:30 on a Friday.

    2.  Next time someone needs to come for him, even if it's my ILs (blech).

    3.  Good thing I didn't give him a solo.  Surprise

    4.  Just because I am a singer and performer, doesn't mean that it is old hat to him.    I compeltely was blindsided by his freak out, did not expect it at all!

There's no where to go but up from here.  He still swears he wants to be in Choir this quarter, and he enjoys it so much... so we'll see how he does after the Winter Show!  Luckily eveyone at school knows him and me and gets it and it was pretty much fine.  Just sad a little.  Ack!

  • Aww, poor A!  I am sorry for his freak out!  Hopefully with additional practice and some family faces in the audience, he will be a performer just like his momma!  And hugs to you!  I can only imagine how hard it must have been to be leading the performance while wanting to be a mom to your little boy!
