1st u/s appt not what I was hoping for

Strike 2.

Those of you that were here in the beginning may remember, I went for a pg confirmation appt exactly 2 weeks ago after a bfp on 9/30 - their urine test came back negative, did u/s and saw nothing - took blood and the next day confirmed a "very early" pregnancy with 162 beta.

Fast forward to today. Did another transvag u/s - couldn't find anything - not a sac, no fetal pole, let alone heartbeat. She said 1. the machine is really old and 2. if I am not 6 weeks yet they won't see anything. She really didn't seem concerned about it and told me to wait another week.

Yet, I see lots of others on here who saw at LEAST something, and some that even saw the heartbeat before they hit 6 weeks. I don't think I'm very far behind 6 weeks, if at all. My LMP was 8/31 and my cycle is usually 32-34 days long. I think I O'd on 9/20.

An hour ago, I noticed a tiny bit of brown spotting when I went to the bathroom. No red and no cramps accompanying...but I'm just feeling all around deflated with the past 2 Dr. appointments and now this. Anyone with similar experiences that turned out good or bad??

I can't relate (which with my history that's a good thing). But T&P they find a better u/s machine before your next appointment. I think the machine's technology can really make a difference.

I know how you feel. I felt deflated when I had to go to the ER for spotting. I got both an abdominal and transvaginal u/s and all they saw was the sac and what they believed to be the yolk sac and/or the embryonic pole. I was at 5w3d and thought I should have saw more. The hCG levels were great and I haven't had any issues with more spotting and still showing all my pregnancy symptoms.

I try not to get disappointed about it because it was early and I've prayed a lot about it. Thoughts and prayers are with you that some good happens at the next u/s! ((hugs!))

I had spotting and bleed but the u/s was able to pick up a gestational sack at 5 weeks. If you're really early into the pregnancy and their machines are older, I wouldn't worry too much

I'm surprised they didn't do another round of beta testing! I would find a new doctor with a "newer" machine!

My OB's office has a rickety portable u/s machine. The ladies on PGAL said that these machines often take longer to see anything. At 5w2d, we saw nothing. At 5w5d we only saw a yolk and gestational sac. I go back on Thursday at 7w1d and hope to see a heartbeat. That said, until you're 6w5d some machines won't pick up anything. Any chance your bladder was full? Mine was the 1st time and I think that affected it. GL! I'm praying for you.

It sucks when the u/s doesn't go the way you wanted it to. Some u/s machines are really old and crappy and don't pick anything up before 6-7 weeks. There isn't much there that early. Will they at least bring you back in next week to check for progress?

I had a successful US at the 7 week mark, but even then I was preparing myself not to see anything. 6 weeks is still pretty early, especially with bad equipment. It sucks, but it sounds like you just have to wait a little while longer to see what is going on. Seems like a good sign that the doctor is not overly concerned?

I had an u/s with DS and saw a hb at 6w2d but that was with a great machine. I didnt expect to see anything. At my current ob she only looks at 8 wks or later bc of that reason, you sometimes cant see a fetal pole earlier than 8 wks.
