Party food help!

Hi ladies,

We are hosting a party tomorrow evening and while I have a few "go-to" party foods, I thought I'd ask for your favorites!  When you go to a party, what kind of food do you hope to see served?  Give me your recipes!

 Thanks!

  • One thing that people always love: a wheel of brie with some hard salami (the good, Italian kind) and a sliced up baguette.

We also make appetizers from our wedding caterer that are a huge hit. Take a small slice of Brie, a slice of tomato (plum or grape or cherry) and place it on a toasted bread round.  (make your own or use store-bought crostini type things.) Bake for 10 minute at 350.  Then dab a bit of pesto on top.

  • My standby for parties is shrimp and cocktail sauce. It's really easy and always gets eaten up. I also like to make mini crabcakes. For something heartier, I like to make a beef tenderloin and slice in thinly. Get some crusty rolls, lettuce, tomato and horseradish sauce for guests to make sandwiches. Curry chicken salad is also good. I get a whole chicken and pull the meat off. Mix with mayo and curry powder to taste. Add halved red grapes, some finely chopped onion, chopped celery, grated carrot, and toasted slivered almonds. You can serve with rolls for sandwiches or stuff the salad into phyllo cups.
