Recommendations for Daycare?

Hi ladies,

I am thinking about changing to a new day care for my son - do you have any recommendations for the Gaithersburg/Germantown area?  Anyone use the Goddard school for day care - one of my coworkers recommended them.

    We were going to take DS to the Childtime on Quince Orchard Rd in Gaithersburg before we moved.  It was recommended by a friend and the teachers all seemed friendly and professional and the rooms were all clean and kids looked happy and engaged in all the activities.

    we have DD at a Goddard in a another location and we really like it; I wanted a center that was school and curriculum-based.

    Do most of y'all find daycare via word of mouth? I'm curious as to how you find, and rate!, a good one.

    I did a lot of word of mouth - I'd ask everyone from neighbors to friends (even ones without kids who might have coworkers or other friends/relatives in the area).  I also used MD Locate's free service https://www.mdchildcare.org/mdcfc/childcare/choose.html to search for in home and centers near my home and work addresses, and checked their licenses/violations at https://www.checkccmd.org/.  After I got a good list I called and/or visited the ones I was interested in.  The visits were always eye-opening and really made the decision for us.

    I don't have any recs, but to answer your follow-up question, I found my daycare by searching for reviews and also asking for recommendations from friends and neighbors. 

    You can also search the archives of the DC Urban Moms message boards. They have a lot of information about schools and daycares on there.
