DD had a sleep regression around 4 months old, but we are finally back to STTN. Last night marked two weeks of ~10 hours straight overnight (8p-6a).
DD's daytime sleep has organized into three separate naps (which I know is developmentally on track), but her total daytime sleep is now only 2.5 hours (all three naps combined). How many total hours is your LO sleeping during the day? TIA
(FWIW, I realized that DD started STTN again around the time that her daytime naps decreased significantly, but I have yet to figure out which led to the other. In other words, did fewer daytime naps mean that she was too tired overnight to wake for food OR did getting most of her sleep needs met overnight mean that she just wasn't that tired during the day? I'm still trying to solve that mystery )
Re: Daytime sleep length for your LO?
11-15 hours per day is typical for most kids. It sounds to me like she's right on track.
My DD is like yours. If she has extra day sleep, she doesn't sleep at well at night.
Thanks again for helping us try to solve the mystery of the middle-of-the-night wakeups a couple months ago. We tried to gradually reduce the length of time DD had on the breast at her 1am wake-up (as we discussed), but it didn't really work. She did not accept the change and go back to bed. And now I realize the problem all along was that she was just not that tired. She had been getting most of her sleep during the day back then, and would wake up every few hours at night feeling very rested. So now, we are back on track and she is getting most of her sleep overnight. And so mommy is very happy as a result!
