I read this this morning and was going to post it here, but thought it might be too depressing for a Monday. But, it is humbling and it really does make me feel so appreciative of what we have.
Read it yesterday and turned to my husband and said, "I love you and our daughter so much - don't let anything ever happen to either one of you". My heart breaks at just thinking of that poor mother, her son and what she has to prepare herself for.
If you are in the mood for another tear-jerking story, read the Family "Bonding" Time blog - it's a mom and dad of a 2 year old, who were both diagnosed with cancer -- Nathan with rectal cancer and Elisa with breast cancer. They're both in their 30s.
I heard about their story on the nest and thought it was terribly sad and that he looked familiar, and then I realized I went to middle school with Nathan. Not that having known him at one time makes it any more tragic, but it just brought it home to me.
it was introduced to me by a girl on my BMB who lives near this family and a lot of us are now following the story. to boot, the baby's father has basically abandoned them so mom is a single parent living with her parents and dealing with all this. she is pretty phenomenal.
Re: Tear jerker article
Wow. I truly don't know how I would cope with something like that, but probably not as gracefully as the writer.
The picture of them is what really makes it real; he's adorable.
