Hi ladies. I normally post on the Central PA Board or TTC.
I am taking my husband to an Eagles / Cowboys game for his birthday on October 30th. I would like to stay over that night and then do something things around town the next day.
I was thinking maybe stay in Rittenhouse Square area or Independence Park area? He is from Alaska so he's never been to Philly to see the "Liberty Bell or Art Museum or anything else for that matter.
Any and all suggestions on a good hotel that would be in a good place in walking distance of places as wel as suggestions of things to do. We will only have one day.
Thanks in advance.
Re: Hotels and things to do.
What a great birhtday gift!!!
The Holiday Inn is a good suggestion, for proximity to historical sites--- liberty bell, constitution center, independence Hall, Betsey Ross House-- as well and the Reading Terminal Market for lunch--
If you want to stay on Rittenhouse-- the best location for dining and nightlife, the Rittenhouse Hotel or the AKA are both awesome, as well as the Palomar and the Warwick, or even the Latham
i would check hotels.com for the best rate! The restaurants in Rittenhouse are awsome, Parc on the Square, Italian in South Philly like the Saloon or Ralphs, there are tons of great things to do!
ENJOY!!!
Amanda
PS I love Genos for cheesesteaks any cab can get you there!! Dont forget the Cherry Soda
Rittenhouse is a beautiful park, but it's not all that centrally located to tourist sites.
For central convenience, I like the Marriott. It's right next to Reading Terminal and City Hall. All the Independence stuff is only 5 blocks. It's also right on top of the Market subway line, so you can hop on to get to Old City.
Our favorite splurge hotel is the Ritz Carlton- great location and amazing hotel. The Palomar and Sofitel are also great choices. Another idea, which we do sometimes, is Name Your Own Price on Priceline and bid for a 4 star center city hotel. Last time we got Hyatt at Penns Landing for around $100 for the night. It is walking distance to historical sites and short taxi to Ritt Sq. Definitely do lunch or brunch at Parc, Reading Terminal for snack or lunch. The new Constitution center is also supposed to be nice.
