Hello. I've waited here for you. Everlong<3<br>

Re: working out after c/s

  • I stuck to the rule with my 1st c/s...I had serious complications though with my recovery (clotting issues) so I didn't take any chances--I'd say it was 8 wks pp before I was back at the gym.

This time around, I plan to build up walking (I'm only 1 wk pp so not even thinking of working out just yet!!) and then waiting to hear what my dr. says at my 4 wks pp appointment. Even though I know I'll be itching to start back asap, I plan to listen to her advice as I know from having a nightmare 1st c/s recovery that setting yourself back unnecessarily backfires.

  • I had a very easy c-section recovery and went back to the gym the day of my 6 week pp appointment. Technically it was 5 weeks 5 days.

I got very very lucky and didn't have any pain and only minimal discomfort. We walked home from the hospital, we live in a city and it was only 4 blocks away so I wanted to try. Ever since 2 weeks pp I've been walking at least 3 miles a day with LO.

I realize this isn't normal, but wanted to share. My doctor also said I could do ab work with weights if I wanted to. I haven't started that back yet (am almost 10 weeks pp now) but am doing cardio regularly.

  • My doctor cleared me at 6 weeks to start easing into running.  But she said no ab work until at least 5 month (more for the deep internal healing).  I just started running this past week only because after I had my 6 month appointment I ended up having to have a D&C due to products of conception.  I would just listen to your body.

  • I walked starting at a week pp. Continued this 2-3 times per week, increasing pace and distance up to 3 miles.

Just started running with the jogger and doing crunches three weeks ago. I'm still sore to the touch, though...didn't have so great of a recovery, so my issues are pretty atypical!

  • I started walking at maybe 3 wks pp. It was slow going - I felt I had no stability in my hips and no ab strength so there was no power walking plus I had low iron and low energy. I started "walk & stroller" at 9 wks pp - a cardio & sculpt class at the indoor track. The walking and most exercises (lunges, squats, dumbell exercises, etc) were fine, but I couldn't do the ab work at first. I modified them or didn't do them at all, but by the end of the class (2x wk for 5 weeks) I could do them at least to some extent. It was great to see improvement!

  • I started walking about a week after I got home. I didn't actually go to the gym until 4 weeks where I just started doing 15 minutes on the elliptical. About 7 weeks I started doing weights. I still can't run. Between my scar and breasts it hurts too much!

  • I started walking (slowly) on the treadmill at 2 weeks PP. I just started lifting weights and doing Zumba again last week (12 weeks PP)....
