Call me crazy, but I have been wondering, do I really have to wait 6 weeks before my husband and I have sex? I had a c-section, and my LO is 11 days old. It's not like I want to do it right now, but I'm just curious...what did you guys do?
We had a scheduled c-section, so I did not go into labor at all. We had sex after 3 weeks and it was fine. Just make sure he is careful and you feel up for it.

I can't speak for having a c/s but with vaginal deliveries you need to make sure that you heal internally as well, hence the 6 week checkup. With my last birth I waited until my checkup to get the green light. I plan to do that again this time around.
The reason you need to wait C-section or not (I had a c-section) Is because when your placenta detaches it leaves a big open wound on your uterus. It really has nothing to do with how you delivered. The rate of infection is much higher if you have sex or put anything up there (no tampons), any sooner.
To answer your question, we waited 9wks.

Ah! I didn't know that, and that makes sense. Good to know. Darn, guess I'll have to wait for the green light from the Dr. Thanks!
I waited 4 weeks. I had a 2nd degree episiotomy and tore a bit on top of it. It wasn't uncomfortable for me at all. I just made sure my SO washed really well as we did it right when he got out of the shower to reduce risk of infection. Also lochia was a light brown at this time. I say at a month, if you feel your body is ready go for it!

I hear that you have to wait because your uterus is like an open wound so it could cause infection. I waited until 8 weeks because my DH didn't want to do the deed until we were protected and he HATES condoms.

We waited 3 weeks. I had a vaginally delivery, tore pretty bad and had a lot of stitches but by 3 weeks, I had already stopped bleeding and wasn't sore at all. I went for my 3 week check up and all they did was prescribe me birth control, didn't check me at all, and gave me clearance to go back to work... I didn't have to go back for another check up. So after my doctor appointment, I went and filled my prescription and bought condoms lol I was ready to go!
It doesn't matter if you had a c-section or not...they tell you nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks due to the risk of infection. Not something I'd risk, personally. Ouch
We still have not yet (LO is almost 3 months). We have to get a BC situation worked out first since my husband is now dragging his feet on getting is vasectomy :P !

I'm really surprised they didn't tell you this upon discharge. They stressed this very strongly to me with both of my sections. Absolutely nothing in there for 6 weeks. You could still have fun in other ways
We did it at 3 weeks--we got drunk on our anniversary and it just kinda happened I had stopped bleeding and it actually was pretty awesome which surprised me. But I did tell DH that we werne't doing it again until I got cleared--I wasn't planning on having sex before the six weeks due to infection concerns but sometime stuff happens!

This!
I'm going to wait until my CNM gives us the all-clear. I have felt pretty good down yonder since about a week PP so I'm looking forward to that. Giggity!

Im 7 weeks pp and not done it yet (I wanted to at the start but now I guess Im just getting used to now doing it). I havent completely healed from my stitches and want to be completely fine before we do it
DD will be 12 weeks on Wednesday, and we still haven't...ugh. Even though my delivery went smoothly, I had a lot of PP bleeding and a large clot that sent us to the ER. I was still bleeding at 8 weeks PP when I got my Mirena, and I think *hope* I am almost done. Since it has been so long, I am worried about it, but luckily DH has been wonderful and very patient.
I'm 2 weeks out from my csection, and we didn't have sex for 7-8 weeks before I delivered because I was very uncomfortable and then I was on bed rest. I can't wait!
