Potty training and waking early

So Ds is starting to like the potty and tells us when he has to go more and more. He has always been an early riser, but since he has started to potty train more and not like to feel wet, he has been waking earlier--5:45 instead of 6:45 or 7. He comes to my room and tells me he peed. He has a diaper on, but doesnt like to feel wet now.

What do I do? He wont go back to sleep if I  change him, he lays there for a bit then comes to my room several times until I let him come in my bed and watch a show around 6:45. He doesnt know how to get undressed, sit in the potty, put his clothes back on and go to bed again....so do I just have to deal with this until  he does?

ugh this is fun.

Re: Potty training and waking early

  • Switch him to a pull up, put a waterproof cover on his mattress and "dream pee" him.  My oldest started taking off his diaper/pull up in the middle of the night and then peeing all over, it sucked!  We had no other option than to start taking him to pee and being a very, very light sleeper I was petrified.  It's worked out fabulously.  We have to take him about an hour after he goes down and then my husband usually takes him again when he goes to sleep, he doesn't even seem to wake up and goes right back to bed no problem.  We do have some nights where we don't hit the right times I guess you'd say and he pees the bed but it's mostly working.  We also found that he was waking up prior to 6am if we didn't to the 2nd pee at night.
