Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Where does your baby sleep?

My son is 4 days old...and he will not sleep on his back.  We have tried his crib, pack and play, swing, etc.  He hates all of them. I have been setting him on my chest after we nurse and he sleeps that way.  But I am a walking zombie now, so I need some tips or hints : )

  • He may be really gassy and that's why lying on his stomach is the preferred position.  Have you tried having him sleep in your arms?

  • I had mine in a rock&play when she refused to sleep flat in the p&p (around 6days old at the time) she slept in that r&p every single night up until last week when I moved her over to her nursery.

  • For the first week our LO slept in her RNP.  Then we moved her to her crib.  Every once in a while we can't get her to go back to sleep in her crib so she will sleep in the RNP again.

  • LO doesn't enjoying sleeping flat either.  He sleeps either in his RNP or bouncer.

  • She slept in her bassinet for the first few weeks (flat on her back). But then i started to get really lazy in the middle of the night so she slept in my bed with me. But just last night, i started putting her back in the bassinet to get her used to sleeping alone on a not so soft surface (my mattress is DEFINITELY softer than the bassinet/crib mattress), once she starts rolling over, she'll go in her crib.

  • We're lucky that DD will pretty much sleep in anything- her swing, boouncer or PNP.  We've been transfering her into her crib too and she does fine there.  The only place she hates is the bassinet in our room so we don't use that anymore.  If she fusses before falling asleep, we bounce her in her bouncy seat and then transfer her to her crib once she's really drowsy or asleep.

  • After 4 days of pure hell trying to force him into his crib, we gave up and let him sleep at night in his little vibrating chair (without the vibration).  We actually set the chair in his crib.  It is worth the sleep at night.
