My SIL is getting married on 12.31.11. She originally was letting us choose our dresses but has now narrowed it down to JCrew Silk Chiffon dresses. Help me choose! I am short (5'2"), have a waist between a 4 and 6, and ginormous boobs (currently a 34I). I am still EBFing too.
Option 1: https://www.jcrew.com/wedding/Wedding_Bridesmaid/bridesmaidpartydresses/silkchiffon/PRDOVR~29286/29286.jsp . This one has a very structured waist and has looked great on everyone that has tried it on. It really seems to hide the tummy. The downside is that it is strapless. How easy will it be to BF in?
Option 2: https://www.jcrew.com/wedding/Wedding_Bridesmaid/bridesmaidpartydresses/silkchiffon/PRDOVR~43049/43049.jsp. This one seems like it might work better for BFing, but I don't know. I think I would still have to unzip it to access the boobs. It seems more grandma-ish than the other one.
So far everyone else has chosen option 1. Oh, and to clarify, each BM gets to choose her own dress.
ETA: A strapless bra isn't a concern b/c I always get cups sewn in when I get dresses altered. There is no way I could find a strapless bra in my size! I gave up on that long ago.
Re: NBR: help me decide on a BM dress
I'm going with this. My friend has been in search of a strapless bra that will hold her nursing boobs up for about 3 months. GO number 2! They are both adorable though.
From your description of yourself I think the 2nd choice would be perfect.
as a chesty girl (i was a full D before the baby) i would go with #2. it will down play the size and it will be easier to hide any sort of pads or what not.
you could take it to a seamstress and see if they can alter it to be more BF friendly...
I would go with the first one. I am a 34L, so I understand the big boob issues. The 2nd one is going to be difficult to accomidate big boobs in, especially in a size 4/6. J Crew does not cut things for boobs at all.
With the breast size, you will probably have to have it altered and the 1st would be much easier to alter than the 2nd. You could also have it made in to a lace up back with a privacy panel which will give you the fit everywhere else and the necessary room up top for the girls. This is what I did for my wedding dress. I was a 36H/I and it was much cheaper to have the panel and lace up added than to take everything else in. To fit my boobs I would have had to gone up to a size 22, and my dress was a size 10....

Perfect idea! I think the first one will be easier to alter and will hold the girls in better. I love the idea of changing it to a lace up back. Dresses are just so difficult!
