I heard that it can be a little troublesome TTC when you are still nursing. Also, the milk changes so then your current LO may not want to BF anymore when you end up getting pregnant. Are their any other issues, or is it completely fine to continue to BF while you are pregnant?
Re: Was anyone BFing when they got pregnant for #2?
I got pregnant while nursing. I actually got pregnant fairly easily. My supply really tanked though and it continued to decline as I got further along. My doctor wanted me to wean by 20 weeks, due to the risk of pre-term labor. You will have to talk to your doctor and see how he/she feels about nursing during pregnancy. My LO was almost 1 by the time I was 20 weeks so we went ahead and moved to WCM.
ETA: I should note that I got my period back at 6w3d PP (lucky me). Right after I started the mini pill I got it back. This was with EBFing and no supplementing. I think I got KU my 2nd cycle off of the mini pill.
It got KU'd while BFing LO1. Although I was down to only 3 BFing/pumping session per day. Around the same time, LO1 turned 1 year old so I started giving LO1 WCM. I did about 1 month of 2 BFing session per day, and now I'm down to 1 session per day. My OB wants me to fully wean LO1 by the time I leave 1st tri due to BFing causes the uterous to contract. Plus, I need a break from BFing before LO2 arrives, and I've met my goal of 12 months of BFing LO1. I truly love BFing, but I need a break.
ETA: I got my first PP AF when LO1 was around 8 months old.
LO#1: August 2010
I had my first PPAF around 3.5 months when I started back up at school.
I wanted to tandem nurse, but my 1st pregnancy symptom was my supply tanking. I tried to up my supply, but gave up after a month of no luck.
AF came back when DS was abour 3 months old eventhough I was BFing exclusively and on demand. Lucky me! haha
So far I've only noticed my nipples being sore when nursing. I'm also super tired and hungry all the time. My first pregnancy wasn't too bad for that, so I'm guessing that breastfeeding plus being pregnant is taking it's toll.
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

I got pregnant while BFing my daughter. She was about 7 months and she weaned around 12 months. I had a risk free pregnancy and was told by both of my doctors (I switched insurance early on) that it was fine to continue nursing.
I've heard if you're high risk, it's not advised to nurse, but I'm not sure if there's any truth to it.
Thank you, that is exactly what I am hoping for! If I could at least just make it to the 12 month mark before my LO has to be weaned, it's fine with me. I had a low-risk first pregnancy, so we shall see!
BTW..your family is beautiful

My MW is totally fine with BF while pregnant, barring any sort of medical issues
We're not preventing right now, but I'm almost a year in and AF is nowhere to be found. I was pumping three times each day and stopped a few weeks ago. I nurse LO about five times a day (we bedshare and we nurses throughout the night) so that's not helping. I may have to completely wean before I can get KU.
I got one PP period at 5 months, so we started to chart well we got pregnant when we didn't think I was ovulating. I EBF.
OB told me this morning that BF isn't a problem that it will taste salty down the road but it was fine to continue to BF even after the next LO arrives.
Of course all OBs are different so check with yours.
I was EBF'ing with I got pregnant. I had one period at 9 months PP and then surprise! I was preggers.
My midwife ok'd continuing to BF, but my supply just kept tanking despite taking a pumping/nursing vacation for 2 days, so I eventually weened by 11 months. Plus, my nipples were so tender, I gladly weened.
DD took the transition rather well, probably because she realized nothing was coming out and so a bottle would have to do.
We didn't expect to conceive because it took much longer with J.
But I am now about 17 weeks along, so it can also happen much quicker when BF than when not!
Ditto what pp said about BF and pregnancy. My midwife is fine with it as long as I have no complications, etc...I can tell my supply is dwindling though. We will see what happens.
I love reading all the PP! AF came back exactly when DS was one month old same with my DD. I got pregnant with my DS when DD was about 3 1/2 months old I was EBF on demand. She would not BF after I got pregnant she wanted to but didnt like the taste :-( we tried for four weeks before I totally gave up and EFF.
Also I was on birth control and using condoms(it broke once)!! He was meant to be thats for sure! I guess it all depends on how fertile you are this time I elected to have an IUD because I wanted my children to be atleast 18 months apart, so far it seems to be working DS is 3 months old.
I just found out that I'm pregnant and my daughter is only 4 months old and EBF. I'm really worried about her self-weaning too early
Was your daughter ok with formula? My daughter is a real comfort nurser so I don't know how this is going to go...

Hello fellow November mama
I got my first PP period when E was 7 months, and we started trying when he was 8 months old. My cycle was all wonky (I was charting), so I researched how to regulate it in order to TTC, and added Vitex and B6 to the mix. Got pregnant that cycle.
I haven't talked to my Midwife yet, but I'm still nursing and it's going fine. Except he's getting more and more distracted, so I'm thinking we will be done by 12 months.
Good luck!
I never got PPAF. We were hoping to catch the first egg and did. DS was around 9-months-old and still BFing.
It IS completely fine to BF while you are pregnant. I know several women who BF throughout their pregnancies and tandem nursed after the new baby was born. You just want to make sure that you are meeting everyone's nutritional needs. Read The Adventures in Tandem Nursing. I had hoped to continue BFing until DS was at least 1 and then go from there. He did go on a nursing strike when I was about 7 weeks pregnant. I continued offering and pumped. The strike lasted about 5 days. My supply was never the same, even though I was pumping throughout the strike. He stopped BFing completely around 11 months. He was just done. And I was relieved because BFing made my m/s 100x worse.
Good luck!
