Cloth Diapering

Out and about with wipes

How do you travel with cloth wipes?? I have this little bottle of water with some wipe solution in it for home, but don't know what to do while out and about. Can I pre-make some wet wipes?? If so, how do you? What do you store them in? TIA

Re: Out and about with wipes

  • You can put your water/solution in a water bottle or peri bottle and travel with the wipe dry and wet as you go.

Or you can pre-wet the wipes (just dip in solution and wring out a bit) and store in a travel disposable wipes case or a mini wet bag,

  • We travel with cloth wipes and just put them in dry in a wipes case.  I was wetting them before leaving the house but then I'd forget or leave them in there too long wet and they'd get funky.  We always have a bottle of water somewhere around or there is usually a sink nearby to wet them if we don't have a bottle of water with us.  I haven't found need for a separate "wipe solution" (soap, etc.) yet. HTH!

  • I have a small travel bottle that you would put shampoo or lotion in (I think I got it at Target). I just refill it with water before going out and wet the wipes as we go. I'm terrible at checking the diaper bag after getting home, so pre-wetting wipes wouldn't work for me.

This exactly. On the rare occasion we're not going to be near a sink with warm water, I have a small thermos i keep warm water in for the diaper bag.

  • I have a small zippered wetbag that holds one CD and some wipes.  I just put in a couple dry wipes in there.  I use either of these as my wipe solution - they're easily portable and work great:

  • I have a spray bottle filled with a homemade wipes solution containing tto so it doesn't get funky. I either spray the bum or spray the wipe.

I also have grabbed a handful of wipes out of the warmer and just thrown them in a ziploc before, generally when I know we're going to need heavy duty cleaning (like out to dinner.)

  • I'm still figuring this out too.  So far I've just been carrying dry wipes and if we're near a sink we use those and if not (or if DH is doing the change) I use some of the sposie wipe sample packs that we got in our registry goodie bags or as samples, etc.  I know they will run out eventually but they should last us for a couple months.  We may keep using sposie wipes at least part time while out and about since we're usually changing near a trash can, thus eliminating my main objection to them at home (having to keep a separate trash can for just wipes).  I love my cloth wipes but I am not sure I would love wetting them from a little spray bottle, which is what I have in the diaper bag now.
  • I have a tiny wet bag that I store some pre moistened wipes in. I keep my wipes pre moistened at home so it's easy to stuff a few in a wet bag then go.

  • I just stick a few dry cloth wipes in my diaper bag and keep a little spray bottle of just water in the bag to wet them with (which is how we wet them at home as well).
