12/24/2009 Baby C born, 2/1/2010 placed with us,
5/17/2011 Adoption final- we are finally a forever family!
we are also in IL highland park IL. We have 2 pairs one brown one black. I don't want too many since their fit grow so quickly.
We're neighbors! I'm in Deerfield.
We usually only have 2 pairs of shoes in any given size. In summer it was one sandals, one sneakers. Now it's one sneakers, one pair of nicer shoes. He needs a bigger size about every 2-3 months it seems, so I hate to buy more than that, but I do like having two for variety.
DS has 1 pair of soft soled shoes that he wears all of the time (size 3)... He also 4 pairs of hard soled shoes (3 are size 5 and 1 size 6). I have a shoe fetish... LOL

I think 5 or 6 pairs of shoes. I have a thing about wearing shoes and I think sub-consciously I am passing it onto DD, or not, since I just said I thought I was.
Anyways, she has 2 pairs of Nike's, rainboots, 2 dress shoes, another pair of tennis shoes, and some sandals that it's too cold to wear now.
Several were hand me downs, the rainboots, 1 pair of Nike's and some dress shoes were bought used.
#2: No brown shoes/black pants or black shoes/brown pants.
I tried to tell myself to get over it, but then I realized that secondhand baby shoes from a consignment shop cost $3, and you can fit about twelve pairs of baby shoes in one small storage drawer. Therefore, my official answer is: too freakin' many. (a.k.a. 7). She wears them all.
I guess technically now I should be SecondBabyMomma
Shoes that have bought specifically for Tegan are a pair of brown mary janes, black mary janes, a pair of white tennis shoes, a pair of brown tennis shoes and a pair of white sandals. However, I don't see the point in buying expensive shoes, so none of her shoes cost more than $20.
She has several other pairs of shoes, but they're hand me downs and I don't typically put her in them for a full daycare day. She normally wears the hand me down shoes when we're going to the playground to play or in situations where her shoes are going to get messy/wet. I am a believer in not buying used shoes, but I never turn down hand me downs, so I want her to get some use out of them.
DS has 3 pairs of sandal type shoes - one is for every day (Stride Rite) and the other 2 we alternate depending on where we are going (Keen & Stride Rite). He also has a pair of lace up Converse. Last week we went to the outlet mall and bought him 2 new pair of Stride Rites as he will be starting daycare in December and cannot wear sandals there - one pair is a velcro strap sneaker type and the other a closed toe velcro strap shoe. I try to get his shoes on sale or clearance.

DS has two pairs of converse right now and a pair of brown boots. He is just outgrowing the converse so I am going to have to get him something new. This summer he had three pairs of sandals and a pair of converse that are all in the resale pile because he has outgrown them.
I assume that Salukijule is a SIUC grad or living close to C'dale? I am an alum and grew up in Central IL as well.

She has two pair, a pair of hard soled sandals for the summer that she just wore out but never walked in and a pair of soft soled shoes that can be worn with or without socks for whatever weather.

Joy only wears one pair. They're white soft-soled sandals that match everything so I haven't haven't had to buy another pair.
I will need to soon because of winter, but then she'll probably wear whatever shoes I buy exclusively.
Can you tell I'm not a shoe girl? lol

I have two shoe-related compulsions.
#1: The shoes must match the outfit
#2: No brown shoes/black pants or black shoes/brown pants.

For fall DD has 6 pairs of shoes.
-solid black
- solid brown
- silver
- a pair of sneakers
- a pair of rainboots
- a pair of dressy maryjanes.
The rainboots and dress shoes are not worn as often, but the others are worn on a regular basis to match her outfits everyday.
