Success after IF

For those whos water broke at home...

Was it obvious when it happened? I think mine might have but I have no clue. My first pregnancy mine was broken in the hospital.

On another note...I apologize I have not been around at all lately. We moved last weekend and things have been super hectic getting everything packed....unpacked...and put together.

Re: For those whos water broke at home...

  • Hi sweetie! YES, for me it was a rush of water. I woke up from it. Almost like a water balloon popped in my hooha. :).

  • Mine broke while out to dinner with co-workers, and yes, it was obvious. Thankfully all my co-workers at the time were women.

  • Yes, for me it was very obvious both times! With Eliza it was a never-ending gush of warm fluid. With Lydia there was an audible pop! And massive gush if fluid. With e, contrax really never started, with Lydia, it got crazy intense right away & she was born 7min later! What's going on with you? I hope it's the real deal!

  • For me it was a minor trickle, very light.  I knew what it had to be, but it was very minor and even stopped after a couple hours before starting again the next morning.  GOOD LUCK!!!

  • No, it was not obvious to me, but I felt like something wrong. I had been leaking some clear fluid tinged with pink for over an hour, but I wasn't sure that it was my water breaking because it was not that heavy at first. I called the doctor and she said to come in immediately. On the drive over, it got a lot heavier and soaked my sweatpants.

I had a wet spot in my underwear before I got into the shower. Got out put my jammies on and just checked to find another spot. Definitely not a gush.

Ditto this! I was 5 days overdue and had been feeling contractions all morning, but nothing regular yet. But there was no mistaking the pop I heard/felt!

  • It was completely obvious, a big gush, and then as I walked around I kept "peeing" myself.

    Good luck!!!!

  • Once it happened I yelled to my husban who was about to leave to pick up a pizza so, I knew. But then when i went to the bathroom to confirm, I had second thoughts. It was a gush but not a big fbig one, but it kept coming so i figured it was the real thing and it was. Sorry for all the typos, my phone is possessed tonight. Good luck!!!

  • When my waterbroke with the twins it wasn't a big gush. It was actually more like several little leaks. If you think it might have broke, call your doctor. Of course my arse of a doctor told me that i pissed myself but I just didn't believe that. Sure enough my waterbroke.

With Brady my waterbroke at the hospital while I was getting prepped for my c/s. It again was not a big gush!

  • Yep.  I was sitting on the couch.  Basically felt like a giant gush of warm pee.  I jumped up because I didn't want it to get on the couch!

  • I didn't know 100% that it was my water breaking... although I think it was partly that I was in denial since I still had 11 days to go and I had no signs whatsoever that I was going to go into labor.

I felt a small pop and had a trickle of water, but that was it. I thought maybe I peed myself so I sat on the toilet and another trickle came out. I couldn't stop it, so I started to believe the small voice (and my husband :) ) telling me that my water had broken. I sat on a towel and a few more trickles came out, so we got ready to go to the hospital. About 20-30 minutes after my water broke, I started having mild contractions that were pretty regular.

    Good luck!!

Interesting! That would not be a reliable sign for me because I was constantly leaving wet spots & had to wear a liner 24/7. I would change them again & stand up, lay down, sit down, stand up & see if you are leaking as you change positions. If so, its probably a leak! Keep us posted!!! You'll be in my thoughts!

  • Mine broke at home and was super obvious.  It was gushing water out at times that I had no control over.  We went to the hospital within an hour and they confirmed.  Mine pants were soaked by the time I got there...lol!!

  • Holy SH!T I hope that it broke and you didn't just tinkle! Good luck mama :) xoxoxo
  • I had started having contractions but wasn't sure if they were BH or not, and was lying in bed trying to sleep when I heard and felt a POP, kind of like popcorn popping, and felt a small gush of fluid.  When I stood up a continues to gush with each step.  It wasn't a lot of fluid in my case...didn't soak the bed or anything.  But I knew my water had broken.

  • Nope. At first I thought was peeing myself. It was just a slow trickle. It took about a half hour to become obvious. Good luck!

  • It was not totally obvious to me but I was only 33w4d.  I thought I had peed myself and then when it did not stop I thought that I had lost all control over my bladder.  It was not until I called a friend (my DH was not home at the time) that I started to believe it was my water.  Good luck!

  • Obvious = YES!  Literally like Niagara Falls.  It woke me up at 4:30am, there was a trail to and from the bathroom, I soaked the towel in the car, my clothes and the wheelchair.  With #2 I was in the hospital and it also woke me up from sleep.

  • Mine was obvious, yes. I stood up and felt a gush. Went to the bathroom to determine if it was urine and found clear fluid dripping on the floor; a few seconds later it was blood-tinged.

I don't think my sequence of events was typical, though. I hadn't had any contractions, so they had to start pitocin, and I dont think ever lost my mucus plug.

  • Yes, very obvious.  Like I peed myself, but it just wouldn't stop.  Good luck!!

  • Ooooh!!!  Mine did - I had bloody show but then it felt like a small gush once in a while.  Kind of like (gross) the feeling you may have experienced during AF when she is heaviest.

If you think you did, you probably did.  Are you GBS +?  I ended up going in just to be sure I could get IV antibiotics in time and they confirmed that my water was leaking . Wasn't a big gush, but the bag had ruptured.

    GOOD LUCK!
