Swing times

Is there a "too long" time spent in a swing? LO fell asleep in our swing today (he usually hates it) and has been napping quite a while. Is there a time I should take him out and switch it up?

Re: Swing times

  • I don't know if there is a "real" answer, but whenever I feel like LO has been sleeping in the swing for too long I shut the swinging off. Then I feel like the swinging motion is no longer keeping her asleep and she will wake up whenever she is ready. I usually will shut it off after a half hour max. And then LO will sometimes wake up within a few minutes and sometimes will continue to sleep for quite a while.

  • I don't think there's an official answer to this question. I usually just turn the swing off once DD2 falls asleep.

  • DD sleeps in the swing all night.... with it running the whole time.

  • In general I leave it on if he falls asleep in it -- it seems to wake him up if I turn it off.  Usually he'll only sleep in his swing about 45 minutes.

Us too. DS has been sleeping through the night in the swing for the last 4 weeks. I have him in the crib tonight to try to ween him. I'm trying to prepare for a few rough nights til he accepts the transition.
