Are any of you feeling this too?

Hi, I know I never post, but I wanted to see if anyone's lower back or butt hurts them? About a month ago my butt started to hurt on the right cheek, but deep and I know its probably my back. I know that our tailbone starts to curve, do you think that's it? Should I be worried? It doesn't hurt a lot, its just a pain every time I bend over. It went away for a week and now its back. Should I talk to the doctor or am I fine?

  • I had what I think was sciatic nerve pain for a few weeks, and then it went away. I don't know if it was related to the pregnancy. But it did make my right butt cheek hurt.

  • Do you do yoga, or any stretching? If it's deep in your cheek it could be muscular, or some nerves that are a little irritated right now.

  • I don't do yoga or exercise at all. Its deep in my upper cheek that's why I thought maybe my tailbone.

  • I have sciatic nerve pain that sounds just like that. It originated when I was pregnant with DD and has come and gone ever since.

  • I don't think your spine starts curving until much later when your uterus is larger.  But the uterus could easily be pushing on or pinching a nerve.

There is be worse back pain as the pregnancy continues...it is too bad that you have to deal with it already!!  Maybe try sitting on a heating pad?

Yea, this is what I was getting at. Sciatic nerve pain is deep in the butt cheek.

  • YESS! I have this exactly. My low lower back and into my butt is sore ALL the time! It's the worst at the end of the day, or when bending over. It doesn't feel like a muscle thing although I'm thinking its probably a great excuse to go for a massage :)

  • Sounds similar to my sciatic nerve pain. It started with my last pregnancy and is much much worse this time around. IT is worse when I spend too much time sitting then move. I see a chiropractor and RMT for it, it helps some.

  • sciatica... I see my chiropractor for this.. you can also research stretches that you can do to help with it online.. :)

  • I've been having this pain too and it's been my worst pregnancy symptom so far as it's so uncomfortable. I find it so difficult to get to sleep at night because that's when it bothers me most. I am going to see a chiropractor soon to hopefully help it some.

  • I was/am having it and ended up going to the chiropractor.  Mine isn't sciatic though, but mine is actually pregnancy aggravating an old injury.  It might not hurt to check into going, it's fine for pregnant women and my doctor actually got more education on pregnancy issues when he was in school.  By the way, no heating pad--ice pack only.  He said heat affects the nerves and will not help the situation.

  • Its happening to me, on the right side too.  I told my chiropractor and he did nothing.  I ended up getting a massage and it felt really good when she focused on that area. I'm going to mention it to my MW when i go next week, only because i've heard of a lot of people with sciatic pain during pregnancy.  Its not hindering my normal activities, but just think its worth mentioning.
  • I've had this exact same thing. Fortunately, for now, it's gone. Luckily, at my work we have an athletic trainer (since I teach at a school). So I saw her and she did a few of her tests and she said something about my hip alignment being off a bit, and that could contribute to the pain. She did a few things to re-align my hip and within a few days the pain went away. Weird...

  • This sounds exactly like my sciatic nerve pain. I checked with my doctor, icy hot works really well for me. She said if tat stops working, I'll get physical therapy like the ladies above me said.

  • Get a massage!  Typically sciatic pain is caused by a tight piriformis muscle, which is a small muscle in the upper glutes. Everything getting all loose and out of whack can easily put pressure on the sciatic nerve. A foam roller can work realllly well to massage the glutes, or even using a tennis ball and sitting on it to get that deep pressure can really help. The yoga stretch called "pigeon pose" is a really awesome stretch for this area. You can google how to do it.

  • Sounds like sciatica and YES I've been having it. Ouch! I guess it's from your uterus pressing on the sciatic nerve.
