Nighttime feedings

My LO is only two weeks old so I know we are still working on getting into some sort of a routine, but I'm just wondering how you tackle night time feedings.  Right now she gets up usually 2 or 3 times in the "night".

While feeding her she often falls asleep when finished but then when I burp and change her she wakes back up and then tends to be relatively alert by the time I put her back into her crib.  I don't think I should skip the burping or the diaper change, but any advice on how to keep her in a somewhat sleepy state so that she doesn't fully wake up by the time I put her back down?

 Thanks!

  • I always do a diaper change first, just for that reason.  The burping likely won't wake her up as much as the change so still burp afterward and then just cuddle for a bit to help with drowsiness.

  • My DD is 2 weeks and I always change her first and then feed her, she always falls asleep in my arms and then I put her back in the bassinet.... then I sleep until the next time and do the same routine.....working well so far! :)

  • I always change LO first by a very dim lamp and keep things very quiet... then feed lying down. Feeding lying down causes a lot less gas so no burping required.
