Hi there.  I saw in the post below that you only took two weeks off.  That is what I am potentially looking at.  I work for a very small company and they have no maternity leave policy plus no FMLA. 

Can I ask what you did for daycare after that 2 week period?  My husband can take some time off his job but the baby still won't be 6 weeks before we need care of some sort.  I have considered bringing the child to work (received permission till baby is 6 weeks old) but I am not sure this is the best enviornment for a baby.  TIA

  • Hi - just saw this...I had my mom and grandma rotating in and out of my house. That made it so I could go to work when I needed to and pop in and out of the house to do my best to BF. Is that an option for you? I'm not sure if daycare will take the babies that early. Honestly, I thought I shouldn't take the baby to daycare - but all they are doing at the beginning are eating/sleeping/pooping. It wouldn't be to bad. What do you do for work? I'm sorry you have to go through this. It sucks :(

  • Hmm... unfortunately that won't work for me.  I am an admin for a very small company.. 3 employees total.  I may be able to bring the baby to work with me but that is not the ideal situation.  I am hoping my DH can get some paternity leave.

  • Well, I don't know what your financial situation is...BUT, if you had an on-call nanny, you could bring the baby in, and have the nanny on call if you needed him/her to come and get the baby (if he/she gets fussy). I initiatlly thought I shouldn't bring the baby it, but the babies routine (at least initially) was pretty predictable. You might be able to get into a rhythm and keep the baby with you in his bouncer/swing in your office, and then call the nanny and/or DH to come get him/her if you need to.
