My baby is four months now and I still have to wear a pad because of lochia and it is really getting annoying. Is anyone having this problem and do you think I need to go to the doctor? I can't imagine what the doctor can do about it, but I am really getting tired of this problem. It is not red or brown but more yellow/clear. I have three other children and never had this problem before.
Thanks!
Re: Lochia Still?
Lurker coming out of the woodwork here. Guess I've been looking for the right time to come out of hiding. Couldn't help but respond to this.
I would get in to see your doctor, if for nothing else than to put your mind at ease. Does discharge have any sort of odor or discomfort? (sorry if TMI).
I had gone to my OB when DD was only 3 days old b/c things were a little yucky down there...despite me being a first time mom who just had a vaginal birth, I still felt like I wasn't healing like I was supposed to. Doc assured me I was ok then, and as well at my 6 week PP appt. Finally, at 8 weeks PP I decided to go to my regular gyno who discovered that I had retained placenta! Not trying to scare you, but I was horrified. Granted, it was only a small piece but obviously it was not meant to be there and my body was trying to reject it. Not saying this is what is going on with you, just that listening to your body is important.
Once the piece was removed I was able to get a trans vag u/s to make sure my lining was nice and thin etc, and I was immediately fine.
Good luck with everything
Well I went to the doctor today and everything is normal. Normal PH levels and no sign of infection. Doctor said that it is probably due to the fact that I am breastfeeding and I have not had regular menstrual cycles yet. And the doctor informed me that what I have is NOT lochia because lochia is blood and I am not bleeding. I am glad it isn't serious but annoyed that I just have to wait it out. I guess it is one of the many benefits of breastfeeding! lol Sooner or later my body will go back to normal!
