My sister uses the microwave when she is melting soap to pour into molds for bar soap... when we did it with her, she used a coffee mug and put probably no more than half the bar at a time, cut up into smaller chunks, then microwaved for anywhere between 10-20 secs at a time. Then stir a lot. Maybe google a tutorial for soap making?

why are you microwaving it? for liquid laundry soap i guess??
i just grate mine, lay it out on a cookie sheet overnight to dry out some, and then pulse it to a powder the next day w/the food processor...
