C-sections

Did you wear a bra during your c/s?

With DD I labored for 12 hrs, pushed for 3 and wound up with a c/s--but I had my regular bra on (never thinking I was going to have a c/s) and it was really uncomfortable trying to get it off so I could nurse afterwards.  I kept thinking, why didn't anyone tell me to take this off?

This time, I'm having a RCS and I don't want to go completely bare under the hospital gown so I'm thinking I will wear a nursing bra--but it got me curious, how many of you wore a bra for your c/s?

That's really interesting.  My c/s wasn't an "emergency" situation I have no idea why they let me keep it on.....we wound up having to cut it off b/c I couldn't get it off me with the IV and everything in.

  • I did not have a bra on. I don't remember at what point I took it off. I just remember wanting to put my nursing bra on but couldn't because of the IV. I had to wait. I had brought a few of those sleep nursing bras, so I could wear it all night/day at the hospital and be comfortable without being bare.

  • Not me. I was nekkid under the gown...and stayed that way for a couple days afterward, lol. Talk about modesty going out the window.

Same for me...I think I got to wear underwear about 24 hrs after surgery when the catheter was removed (had urine output issues so the catheter stayed for a while).  The IV was with me for a while though so no bra.

  • Is it bad that I have NO IDEA? And it's not like me not to know/remember-- especially when it comes to having clothes on or not! I know if I had a choice, I would have. I do remember putting a t-shirt on right after my c-section (my husband's), and I wore a nursing bra at that point. I kind of want to say that I did wear a nursing bra during surgery, but I could be wrong. I hate not wearing a bra.

  • I only had underwear on beneath my gown. I didn't wear a bra when I was in the hospital. I didn't wear one for the first few days at home either.
  • I didn't wear anything but the gown both times.

  • At my hospital, you can wear a bra..but it cant have metal on it (risk to burn injuries from the cautery during the surgery)..so I'm just wearing a sleep bra (mostly because i work at this hospital, and dont need all my coworkers seeing me all hanging out there)

I am so surprised they let you wear underwear!  I had to take everything off.

  • I wore my bra during my c-section, not underwear though. I took it off after i got to my room. and it had to stay around my left arm bc of the IV then i took it off once my IV was takin out. with my next c-section i will probably just wear a nursing bra.

  • nope!

funny story, I said to myself "I'm keeping my bra on for some modesty" and when the nurses saw I had it on they were like "Your bra has to come off" Then I was like "well there goes my modesty" LOL

  • I had the option of wearing my bra, but decided not to.  I didn't want to have to worry about getting it off later.  I didn't put one back on until I got up to shower later the following day.

  • I wore a regular underwire nursing bra for my first c/s. If I end up with another one this time I will be wearing at least a sleep nursing bra. I can't handle going bra-less.

  • I had on a cotton nursing bra during labor and c/s.  They never told me I had to take it off.  Then I was ready to BF right away.
