I knew that I was having a c-section from the time I got my BFP, but my OBGYN didn't bring it up until around week 34. We scheduled it for week 39 but he said anything 37+ would be okay.
My doctor told me that there's a new law (not sure how widespread it is?) that requires you to be 39 weeks, unless you have an underlying issue like high BP. So mine is scheduled exactly 1 week before my due date (I'm due Dec. 22).
Might as well ask now. I *think* I could have scheduled as early as 28 weeks, but since I switched practices recently I am waiting to meet more of the OBs before making a decision.

Yep! It's new within the past year they are requiring OB's to not schedule sections or induce until 39 weeks unless medically needed. That said, OP you can bring it up at your next appt. but I know at our hospital OB's don't usually put anyone on the c-section schedule until 34 weeks, unless they know it will be unusually busy or mom/baby are having medical issues.

My OB said in July that I could pick any date after 39 weeks and see if the hospital schedule was open. We picked 12/5 last month and scheduled it. My hospital only does 4 elective c/s per day so it was really just to make sure they were slots.
In my state as well a c/s cannot be scheduled prior to 39 weeks, unless there is a true medical emergency. I like to get mine scheduled ASAP though so H can put in his vacation notice, and I can better plan when my last day of work will be, etc. Of course I could always go into labor sooner than the c/s, but it makes us feel better to have the time carved out in advance anyway.
My c/s were both scheduled at least three months in advance. I'd ask at my next appt if I were you.
Ask right away! I'm not due until March, but my doctor felt that there was no reason to wait to schedule since we were set on a c-section. Plus (unless I go into labor beforehand), I'll get the doctor in the practice I like the most to do the surgery It's different with each doctor and practice though, so just ask Good luck!
